WHAT’S ITS HISTORY?
The Silverton’s frame is more a contemporary modern kind of design, given that in the past it would have been exceptionally troublesome for mirror producers to precisely cut and bevel such high quantities of detailed mirror glass pieces, and organize them in the way that can be seen on the front of this mirror here today.
Named after the notable town of Silverton in Devon, the many elements of mirror glass encompassing the edge of this mirror are there to pay representative tribute to the sparkling nature of the silver metal itself.
Shiny and bright, just like the sun or a precious metal, seen in another point of view, the Silverton mirror can symbolize the sun and its beams, bursting out and bringing light into your home.
WHAT’S IT GOOD FOR & WHAT DOES IT GO WITH?
The Silverton mirror absolutely can be viewed as to some degree, striking in appearance. A genuinely bold and wonderful statement to carry into the home with heaps of shining light and flare.
The almost sun burst type of design instils feelings of light and radiance into its surroundings, making it perfect for those rooms that need uplifting.
Ideal for the bathroom space as well, thanks to its easy to wipe and clean mirror glass front.
A match made in paradise for those looking to add a component of difference to an otherwise dull living space. Or, then again to include an extra feeling of flamboyance to an already fun and bubbly style.
Coming in just a single colour, mirror glass, the Silverton mirror as far as colour coordinating is concerned is simple and easy to match with. This is because mirror glass is commonly appreciated for its tendency to maintain a certain level of neutrality with its environment, by just mirroring the colours that are already there.
WHAT’S IT MADE OF?
To remove the otherwise sharp and unsightly edges, all mirror glass elements come bevelled with exception to the central primary mirror glass pane itself.
This is to strengthen the mirror pieces in the event of an accident, whilst also making the mirror look a little softer, less jagged and more visually pleasing.
A high-resin plywood board is bought in to position the central mirror pane itself along with all of the mirror glass pieces laid out around the edges.
Once in place, a strong glue is used to bind them. Any exposed sections of plywood are then covered with black felt, chosen for its neutral colour with the intention of not distracting the eye away from the mirror or its surroundings.
