Built for the Garden, Loved Indoors Too
This bird cage mirror is one of those pieces that earns a second glance. Shaped to echo a vintage birdcage — complete with a domed top and ornamental scrollwork — it brings a whimsical, romantic quality to any wall it occupies, whether that’s a sun-dappled patio or a hallway in need of personality.
Design & Materials
The frame is constructed from steel, finished in a weathered green with warm undertones of gold and rust that give it a genuinely aged, time-worn look. Vertical bars run the full height of the mirror, overlaid with hand-scrolled spirals and a central fleur-de-lis motif — details that catch the light beautifully when placed outdoors. The domed crown extends above the main mirror plate, adding height and visual interest beyond the reflective surface itself. The glass is clear and unadorned, sitting behind the metalwork so reflections play through the ornamental bars. A plastic sheet backing board seals the rear. In our experience, the distressed finish means each piece carries slightly different tonal variations, so yours will be genuinely one of a kind.
Size & Placement
At 70 cm tall and 40 cm wide, this is a compact birdcage mirror that works well as an accent piece rather than a room-defining statement. Mount it on a garden fence or brick wall to reflect planting and sky — the outdoor image above shows exactly how effectively it catches surrounding greenery. It also sits happily in a conservatory, a narrow hallway, or beside a back door. Customers tend to pair this with trailing plants or a small shelf arrangement to lean into the shabby chic aesthetic. Because it has a flat base, you could also stand it on a mantelpiece or deep window ledge if you prefer not to wall-mount. The 10 cm depth from the dome means it projects from the wall a little, so bear that in mind in tight passageways. As a shabby chic arch mirror, it complements weathered wood furniture, exposed brick, and soft linens without clashing.
Hanging & Installation
The mirror has two keyhole fixings on the back — one on each side — so you simply hook it onto a pair of screws driven into your wall. At 5 kg it is light enough for one person to hang comfortably. For exterior brick or stone, use suitable masonry fixings; for indoor plasterboard, cavity wall anchors rated for at least 10 kg each will provide a safe margin. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included — use fixings appropriate to your wall type. Important: do not use string, wire, or chain to hang this mirror.
