Built for the garden, loved indoors too
This small ornate wall mirror pairs a gothic arch outline with flowing metal scrollwork to create something that feels far more substantial than its modest footprint. A recent addition to our Brockley Collection range, it was chosen for its ability to work convincingly in both outdoor and indoor settings — a quality we find surprisingly rare at this size.
Design & Materials
The frame is constructed from steel, shaped into symmetrical heart-and-scroll motifs that sit proud of the mirror glass behind. What catches the eye first is the finish: a warm, antiqued brown-gold patina with green undertones and deliberate distressing that gives the piece a weathered, aged-iron character. The texture is uneven in all the right places — mottled, lightly corroded in appearance — so it reads as a vintage garden gate fragment rather than something fresh off a production line. Behind the scrollwork sits clear, unbevelled mirror glass, and the back is sealed with a plastic sheet backing board to protect against moisture when used outdoors. At roughly 2.5 cm wide, the arch frame sits neatly around the decorative metalwork without adding unnecessary bulk.
Size & Placement
At 40 cm tall and 24 cm wide, this is a compact decorative mirror — think accent piece rather than focal wall feature. In the garden, we often suggest mounting it on a fence panel, garden wall, or shed at eye level where it can catch light and create a subtle sense of depth among planting. It pairs naturally with climbing foliage or sits well as part of a small grouping of outdoor metal garden wall art. Indoors, it works above a console table in a hallway, on a narrow wall between doorways, or as part of a gallery arrangement. The ornate metal arch design complements rustic, vintage, and shabby chic interiors particularly well. Because the base is flat, you can also lean it on a shelf or mantelpiece if you prefer not to fix it to the wall.
Hanging & Installation
The mirror comes fitted with keyhole fixings on the back, so installation is straightforward — simply hook it onto screws already set in the wall. At just 2 kg and only 2 cm deep, it sits close to the surface and is easy to position single-handed. Do not use string, wire, or chain to hang this mirror. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included, so please use fixings appropriate for your wall type — masonry anchors for brick, or suitable fixings for timber fences and garden walls if mounting outdoors.
