Built for the garden, equally at home indoors
This antique gold arch mirror combines a Gothic-inspired pointed arch with an elaborate scrollwork overlay, creating a piece that feels like a reclaimed chapel window. A recent addition to our Williton Collection range, it was chosen for its ability to sit just as comfortably on a sun-lit garden wall as it does inside a period hallway.
Design & Materials
The frame is constructed from steel, finished in a warm, antiqued gold tone with deliberate areas of patina — subtle green and brown undertones that lend it a convincingly aged, vintage gold appearance. Across the mirror glass sits a decorative wirework overlay: symmetrical scrolls and heart-shaped curls that echo the ornamental ironwork of old European gates. The glass itself is clear and un-bevelled, allowing the scrollwork to take centre stage. A plastic sheet backing board seals the rear, helping protect the mirror when mounted outdoors.
The overall effect is decorative without being heavy-handed — the open scrollwork lets plenty of reflected light and greenery show through, which is exactly what makes it work so well as a garden feature.
Size & Placement
At 100 cm tall and 50 cm wide, this is a mid-sized wall mirror with real presence. In the garden, we often suggest mounting it on a rendered wall or fence panel where it can bounce light and reflect foliage, making a compact courtyard or patio feel noticeably more spacious. It also performs well as an ornate gold wall mirror in an indoor setting — try it above a narrow console table in a hallway, or on a feature wall in a dining room where its decorative metalwork catches candlelight.
Because it is rated for both indoor and outdoor use, it suits covered porches, conservatories, and sheltered garden walls equally well. Its flat bottom edge means it can lean against a wall if you prefer not to fix it permanently — handy for staging or seasonal repositioning.
Hanging & Installation
The mirror has two keyhole fixings on the back — one on each side — so you simply hook it onto a pair of screws set at the correct spacing. Do not use string, wire, or chain to hang this mirror. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included; use fixings appropriate for your wall type. For masonry or rendered garden walls, standard rawl plugs and coach screws will do the job. For indoor plasterboard walls, use cavity fixings rated for at least the mirror’s 7 kg weight.
At 7 kg, one person can comfortably lift and position this mirror, though having a second pair of hands to mark the screw points makes the job quicker and more accurate.
