Built for the Garden, Equally at Home Indoors
This large rectangular garden mirror combines a tall, slender silhouette with an arched top and gold windowpane detailing — a design we often suggest for adding a sense of height and openness to narrow spaces. A recent addition to our Ashington Collection range, it was chosen for its versatile indoor-outdoor construction and distinctively architectural frame.
Design & Materials
The frame is crafted from steel with a warm gold painted finish that catches the light with a soft, semi-glossy sheen. Running vertically down the face, horizontal and vertical glazing bars divide the glass into twelve panes topped by a graceful arch — evoking a tall chapel window. At each bar intersection sits a small raised rosette, a subtle ornamental detail that elevates the overall look beyond a plain window mirror. The glass itself is clear and un-bevelled, set behind the bars for a clean reflection. A plastic sheet backing board protects the rear, and the entire piece weighs a solid 10 kg, giving it a reassuring, well-built feel.
Size & Placement
At 170 cm tall and just 30 cm wide (3 cm deep), this is a deliberately slim, full-length mirror that slots into spaces where broader designs would overwhelm. Outdoors, it works beautifully mounted on a brick or rendered garden wall between planting beds — the reflected greenery creates a convincing illusion of a second window. Indoors, it suits hallways, landing walls, and the narrow strip of wall beside a wardrobe or doorway. The flat base means you can also lean it against a wall at floor level if you prefer not to drill, though wall-mounting is the more secure option for outdoor use. Because of its height, customers tend to pair this with low planters or console tables positioned beneath it to anchor the composition. The gold finish complements both ornate period interiors and pared-back contemporary schemes — try it alongside dark metal furniture for an industrial edge, or with warm wood tones for a softer, traditional feel.
Hanging & Installation
The mirror comes fitted with two keyhole fixings on the back, so installation is straightforward: simply drive two screws into your wall at the correct spacing and hook the mirror over them. Do not use string, wire, or chain to hang this piece. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included — choose fixings appropriate for your wall type (masonry anchors for brick or stone, heavy-duty plasterboard fixings for stud walls). At 10 kg, a two-person lift is sensible to get it into position safely and avoid scraping the frame. If mounting outdoors, ensure your fixings are rust-resistant and that the wall surface is sound.
