Sculptural metalwork for garden and home
This extra large garden wall art makes an immediate impression — a 180 × 90 cm rectangular steel panel with sinuous, flame-like cut-outs that reveal mirror glass behind. A steady performer in our full length mirrors line-up, it is chosen repeatedly by customers looking for something that blurs the line between mirror and outdoor sculpture.
Design & Materials
The panel is constructed from steel finished in a dark, speckled black powder coat with a subtle textured grain visible up close. In our experience, this kind of finish weathers well outdoors without the flaking you sometimes see with painted metal. The organic, flowing cut-outs — reminiscent of rising flames or swaying reeds — are backed by mirror glass, so each opening catches and bounces light, greenery and sky. From a distance the effect is bold and graphic; closer up, you notice the interplay of reflection and texture. A plastic sheet backing board sits behind the mirror for added protection. The frame edge is a slim 2.5 cm profile, keeping the focus on the cut-out pattern rather than a heavy surround.
Size & Placement
At 180 cm tall and 90 cm wide, this is a genuinely large metal garden wall art piece — roughly the height of a standard interior door. Hung on a rendered garden wall or fence panel, it creates a focal point that draws the eye down a path or across a patio. Multiple panels can be placed side by side within timber fence bays for a dramatic run of decorative screening, as shown in some of our lifestyle imagery. It works just as well indoors: we often suggest this for entrance hallways, dining rooms, or commercial spaces such as restaurants and boutique hotels that want something more sculptural than a conventional full-length wall mirror. Because the base is flat, you could also lean it against a wall if you prefer not to drill, though at 18 kg it should be secured for safety. Its portrait orientation suits narrow wall sections and tall garden walls equally.
Hanging & Installation
The mirror has four keyhole fixings on the back, so you can hang it in portrait orientation by positioning your wall screws to line up with the centre of the corresponding keyholes, then hooking the panel on. Do not use string, wire or chain to hang this piece. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included — use fixings suitable for your wall type. For outdoor brick or rendered walls, coach screws into rawl plugs are a reliable approach; for timber fence bays, hefty wood screws will do the job. At 18 kg, we recommend a two-person lift when positioning. Have someone hold the panel in place while you mark and drill — it makes the job far simpler and protects the finish from accidental knocks.
