This large gold decorative wall mirror pairs a warm, gilded frame with bevelled glass to create a piece that feels established the moment it arrives. A recent addition to our Braunton Collection range, chosen for its balance of period detailing and versatile sizing.
Design & Materials
The frame is built from hardwood and casting resin, finished in a rich, polished gold with a subtle lustre that catches the light without veering into brassy territory. Each corner carries a sculpted floral motif, with a fine beaded inner border running the full perimeter — details that give the mirror its antique, ornate character. The profile sits at roughly 6 cm wide, deep enough to cast gentle shadow and add dimension, yet restrained enough to let the glass do the talking. Bevelled edges on the mirror glass soften reflections and add a quiet sense of quality you notice up close. In our experience, this warm gold finish sits comfortably alongside cream, ivory, and deep-toned walls, and complements both traditional and vintage-styled interiors.
Size & Placement
At 168 cm tall and 107 cm wide, this is a genuinely large wall mirror in gold that commands attention without dominating a room. Hung in portrait above a console table in a hallway, it draws the eye upward and opens the space with reflected light. Flip it to landscape and it works beautifully as an overmantle or statement piece above a sideboard in a living or dining room. Because the base is flat, you can also lean it against a wall as a full-length leaner mirror — a look we often suggest for bedrooms and dressing areas where floor-level reflection is useful. At 5 cm deep and 26 kg, it has a reassuring solidity that feels substantial leaned or mounted. If you’re after a large ornate gold mirror with a vintage feel, the proportions here are generous enough to fill a feature wall yet refined enough not to overpower smaller furniture.
Hanging & Installation
Four D-loops are pre-fitted to the back of the frame — two positioned for portrait hanging and two for landscape — so you can choose the orientation that suits your wall. Position your wall screws to line up with the centre of the corresponding D-loops and hang the mirror directly; do not use string, wire, or chain. At 26 kg, this is a two-person lift, and we recommend using fixings rated for the weight and appropriate for your wall type — heavy-duty rawl plugs and coach screws for masonry, or specialist plasterboard fixings for stud walls. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included.
For a clean, flush-wall finish, we recommend pairing this mirror with our heavy-duty mirror fittings kit — a hook-and-loop back-plate system designed to sit flat against solid frames.
