This silver wall mirror large pairs generous proportions with refined ornate detailing, creating a piece that feels both classic and adaptable. A recent addition to our Braunton Collection range, chosen for its ability to sit comfortably in traditional and contemporary interiors alike.
Design & Materials
The frame is constructed from hardwood and casting resin, finished in a soft, brushed silver that carries a subtle antique warmth rather than a stark chrome sheen. Decorative cartouche motifs sit at each corner and at the midpoint of every side, connected by a continuous rope-twist moulding that runs the full perimeter. The profile is gently stepped — approximately 6 cm wide — giving visual weight without overwhelming the glass. Inside the frame, bevelled edges catch and refract light, adding a crisp border that lifts the overall look. It is an ornate silver mirror that manages to feel elegant rather than heavy-handed, pairing well with muted linens, warm wood furniture, or cooler grey-toned schemes.
Size & Placement
At 168 cm tall and 107 cm wide, this is a genuinely large wall mirror — tall enough to offer a near-full-length reflection in portrait orientation, and broad enough to serve as a dramatic overmantle or statement piece when hung landscape. In our experience, a mirror of this width works particularly well above a sideboard or console table, where it anchors the wall without feeling cramped. Hung portrait in a hallway or bedroom, the 168 cm height provides a practical dressing mirror while bouncing light deep into the room. The flat bottom edge also means you can lean it against a wall for a more relaxed, contemporary feel — a style we see chosen most often for bedrooms and dressing areas. At 5 cm deep, it sits close to the wall and won’t protrude awkwardly in narrower spaces. Whether used as a vintage large wall mirror in a period property or as a decorative contrast in a modern open-plan living area, the proportions are forgiving and the silver finish stays neutral enough to work with most palettes.
Hanging & Installation
This mirror arrives with four D-loops pre-fitted to the back of the frame, positioned so you can hang it in either portrait or landscape orientation. Line your wall screws up with the centre of the corresponding D-loops and hang directly — do not use string, wire, or chain. At 26 kg, this is a substantial piece, so we recommend a two-person lift for positioning and hanging. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included; choose fixings rated for your wall type, and if you are mounting on a stud or plasterboard wall, ensure you fix into solid timber or use appropriate heavy-duty plasterboard anchors.
For a clean, flush-wall finish, we recommend pairing this mirror with our heavy-duty mirror fittings kit — a hook-and-loop back-plate system designed to sit flat against solid frames.
