This large white antique mirror brings a quiet sense of grandeur to any room it enters. A recent addition to our Braunton Collection range, it was chosen for its refined ornate detailing and a clean, bright finish that pairs easily with both period and contemporary interiors.
Design & Materials
The frame is built from hardwood and casting resin, finished in a smooth white that reads almost chalky in person — bright without being clinical. Each corner carries a sculpted cartouche motif with shell and foliate detailing, while smaller floral medallions sit at the mid-rail points, tying the four sides together. A fine rope-twist moulding runs between these accents, adding texture without clutter. At around 6 cm wide, the frame profile feels substantial yet restrained enough to let the glass do the talking. Inside, bevelled glass catches the light at the edges, lending a subtle sparkle. It’s a style we see chosen most often for rooms with a shabby chic or vintage large wall mirror scheme, though the crisp white also sits well against soft greys and muted pastels.
Size & Placement
At 168 cm tall and 102 cm wide, this is a genuinely generous mirror. Hung in portrait it functions as a full-length piece — tall enough for a head-to-toe view. In a hallway it opens up the space and bounces light; above a console table it anchors the wall without overwhelming the furniture. Flip it to landscape and you have a striking overmantle or a wide decorative mirror for a living room. Because the base is flat, you can also lean it against a wall as an ornate leaner mirror in a bedroom or dressing area. For anyone searching for a large wall antique mirror that doubles as a white shabby chic wall mirror, this rectangular large mirror for wall or floor covers both needs.
Hanging & Installation
Four D-loops are pre-fitted to the back — two positioned for portrait, two for landscape — so you choose your orientation without extra hardware. Line up your wall screws with the centre of the corresponding D-loops and hang directly; do not use string, wire, or chain. At 25 kg, we recommend a two-person lift. If mounting onto plasterboard or a stud wall, ensure fixings are rated for the load. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included — choose fixings suited to your wall type.
For a clean, flush-wall finish, we recommend pairing this mirror with our heavy-duty mirror fittings kit — a hook-and-loop back-plate system designed to sit flat against solid frames.
