This large white ornate mirror brings a sense of light and classical elegance to any room. A recent addition to our Cannington Collection range, it pairs a generous rectangular shape with a finely detailed frame that lifts a wall without overwhelming it.
Design & Materials
The frame is constructed from hardwood and casting resin, finished in a smooth gloss white that gives it a fresh, pristine appearance. Each corner features a prominent baroque-inspired cartouche — a central roundel surrounded by flowing acanthus-leaf scrollwork — while a delicate beaded moulding runs continuously along the inner edge of the frame. Between the carvings, the profile is clean and stepped, combining a broad outer flat with a narrower raised inner section. The frame width sits at approximately 6 cm, offering enough presence to frame the glass without feeling heavy. The mirror glass itself is clear and unembellished — no bevel — keeping the overall look bright and unfussy. In our experience, a gloss white finish like this pairs particularly well with both shabby chic interiors and more contemporary schemes; the ornate detailing reads as traditional, but the white-on-white palette keeps it modern enough to work with clean-lined furniture.
Size & Placement
At 168 cm tall and 107 cm wide, this is a genuinely large ornate white mirror that makes a real impact on the wall. Hung in landscape above a dining table or sideboard, it reflects light and doubles the sense of depth in the room — exactly as shown in the lifestyle image. In portrait orientation it works beautifully in a hallway or living room, where its full-length proportions let you check an outfit from head to toe. The flat bottom edge also means you can lean it against a wall as a white ornate leaner mirror, resting on the floor with a relaxed, gallery-style presence. For bedrooms, we often suggest positioning a mirror of this size opposite a window to draw natural light deep into the space. It also suits period properties and vintage-styled dining rooms where a large wall antique mirror feel is the goal, but a lighter palette is preferred over gold or silver.
Hanging & Installation
This mirror comes fitted with four D-loops on the back of the frame, positioned so you can hang it in either portrait or landscape orientation. Position your wall screws to line up with the centre of the corresponding D-loops, then hang the mirror directly — do not use string, wire, or chain. At 22 kg, this is a substantial piece, so we recommend a two-person lift during installation and fixings rated for your specific wall type. Solid masonry walls will take standard rawl plugs and screws; for plasterboard or stud walls, use appropriate cavity fixings to ensure a secure hold. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included.
For a clean, flush-wall finish, we recommend pairing this mirror with our heavy-duty mirror fittings kit — a hook-and-loop back-plate system designed to sit flat against solid frames.
