Built for the garden, equally at home indoors
This large grey window mirror brings the elegant lines of a gothic church window to your outdoor space or interior. A recent addition to our Okehampton Collection range, it was chosen for its bold arch profile and genuinely weatherproof construction — qualities that make it just as useful mounted on a garden fence as hung in a hallway.
Design & Materials
The frame is formed from steel with a hand-applied grey finish that has a convincingly aged, almost blue-grey patina. You can see light brushstrokes and tonal variation across the metalwork — patches of lighter silver showing through deeper charcoal — giving it a rustic, time-worn character that sits naturally among brick, stone, or timber. Sweeping curved bars divide the mirror glass into a series of arched panes, mirroring the tracery you would find in a traditional church or chapel window. The glass itself is clear and unbevelled, letting the decorative framework do the talking. A plastic sheet backing board protects the rear, and the overall construction is robust enough for year-round outdoor use. In our experience, this style of industrial metal window mirror pairs particularly well with exposed brick, reclaimed wood, and other raw-textured surfaces.
Size & Placement
At 121 cm tall and 45 cm wide, this is a genuinely large arch window mirror, yet its narrow profile keeps it from overwhelming a wall. It works beautifully mounted on a garden fence or exterior wall, where the glass catches sky and foliage to create the illusion of a second window — a classic trick for making a small courtyard or patio feel more open. Indoors, the gothic silhouette makes a natural focal point above a console table in a hallway, on a chimney breast, or at the end of a landing. Because it has a flat bottom edge, you can also lean it against a wall at floor level for a relaxed, contemporary look. If you are considering an outdoor position, choose a sheltered spot where the mirror can reflect planting or architectural features — the effect is especially rewarding at dusk when it picks up warm lighting.
Hanging & Installation
The mirror has two keyhole fixings on the back — one on each side — so you simply hook it onto a pair of screws set at the correct spacing. Do not use string, wire, or chain to hang this mirror. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included; use fixings appropriate for your wall type (solid masonry, timber fence, or stud partition). At 10 kg, it is manageable for one person to lift, though having a second pair of hands to check alignment before tightening is always a good idea. For outdoor mounting, stainless-steel or galvanised screws will help prevent rust staining around the fixing points.
