This solid oak box frame mirror pairs natural warmth with a quietly modern silhouette. The recessed frame creates a shadow-gap effect around the glass, adding subtle depth without competing with the rest of your décor. A steady performer in our Wall Mirrors line-up — chosen repeatedly by customers looking for natural wood finishes that sit between rustic and contemporary.
Design & Materials
The frame is crafted from solid oak with a natural, lightly sealed finish that lets the grain show through — you will see gentle honey tones and the occasional darker fleck that confirm this is real timber, not veneer. Each corner is softly rounded rather than sharp, giving the profile a refined, hand-finished quality. The frame sits roughly 3.5 cm wide with a 2 cm depth, and because the glass is set back within it, you get a clean channel of exposed oak running around the inside edge. The mirror glass itself is clear and unbevelled, keeping the look honest and unfussy. In our experience, this kind of natural oak frame works especially well alongside mid-century modern furniture, Scandinavian-inspired interiors, and rooms with warm neutral palettes.
Size & Placement
At 120 cm tall and 40 cm wide, this is a large oak framed mirror that provides a generous reflection without overwhelming a wall. Hung in portrait, it works beautifully beside a front door for a final outfit check, or in a bedroom between a wardrobe and a window where floor space is tight. Flip it to landscape and it becomes a rectangular large wall mirror for a living room — particularly effective above a console table or sideboard where you want to stretch horizontal sightlines. Because the frame has a flat bottom, you can also lean it against a wall at floor level for a relaxed, editorial look. The 10 kg weight keeps it manageable, though you will want a second pair of hands during positioning.
Hanging & Installation
This mirror arrives fitted with four D-loops on the back, positioned to support both portrait and landscape hanging. To mount it, drive your wall screws so they align with the centre of the corresponding D-loops, then hang the mirror directly onto them — no wire, string, or chain should be used. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included, so choose fixings appropriate for your wall type: standard rawl plugs and screws for solid masonry, or specialist plasterboard fixings for stud walls. At 10 kg the mirror is not exceptionally heavy, but we recommend two people for lifting and aligning, especially in landscape orientation where the width can make levelling tricky.
For a clean, flush-wall finish, we recommend pairing this mirror with our heavy-duty mirror fittings kit — a hook-and-loop back-plate system designed to sit flat against solid frames.
