Built for the garden, equally at home indoors
This free standing metal art obelisk is one of the more unusual pieces in our range — a four-sided mirrored column that tapers to a pyramid point, reflecting light and greenery from every angle. A recent addition to our Hawkridge Collection range, chosen for its ability to double as both a garden sculpture and an interior accent.
Design & Materials
The frame is constructed from solid steel with a matte black powder-coat finish, giving it a clean, contemporary profile with strong weather resistance. Four trapezoidal mirror panels are set into the frame on each face, rising from a broad base to meet at a geometric pyramid cap. The steel edging is slim — roughly 2.5 cm wide — so mirror dominates the surface, creating the illusion that the entire structure is made of glass. Up close, you can see that every joint is neatly welded, and the black finish has a subtle texture rather than a high-gloss sheen. The glass itself is clear and unbevelled, providing crisp reflections. In our experience, this kind of black metal standing mirror pairs naturally with industrial planters, dark-framed furniture, and minimalist interiors where geometric forms are already part of the scheme.
Size & Placement
At 100 cm tall with a 20 × 20 cm base footprint, this obelisk occupies very little floor space yet commands attention thanks to its height and reflective surfaces. Outdoors, we often suggest placing it among planted borders or on decking where it picks up sky, foliage, and movement — the effect is a surprisingly dynamic focal point for a small courtyard or balcony garden. Indoors, it sits comfortably beside an armchair, in the corner of a hallway, or flanking a fireplace. Because the base is relatively narrow, it slots into spaces where a conventional free standing mirror black frame would feel too wide. If you are looking for a modern free standing mirror that functions more as sculptural décor than a dressing mirror, this is a strong candidate. The 10 kg weight keeps it grounded, yet it is light enough for one person to reposition when rearranging a room or patio layout.
Hanging & Installation
This ornament is entirely free standing — no wall mounting is needed. Fixing holes are pre-drilled into small brackets around the base, allowing you to secure the obelisk to the ground or floor with bolts or screws. If you plan to place it outside, we recommend doing this to prevent wind from toppling the piece and risking the glass. Screws and bolts are not included; use fixings suitable for your floor type, whether that is timber decking, concrete paving, or an interior hardwood floor. Indoors on a stable, level surface, many customers simply stand the mirror in place without additional fixings.
