Built for the Garden, Loved Indoors Too
This rustic arch garden mirror draws its character from ornate metalwork and a softly weathered finish that suits both outdoor walls and period interiors. A recent addition to our Dulverton Collection range, it was chosen for its ability to blur the line between functional mirror and decorative wall art — a combination we find works especially well in cottage and country-house settings.
Design & Materials
The frame is constructed from steel with a distressed, stone-toned paint finish that lends the piece a convincingly aged, almost antique quality. Five vertical bars rise through the lower section, each topped with a cast fleur-de-lis finial, while the arched crown features a fan of hand-scrolled ironwork radiating from a central half-moon motif. Ornate scroll details sit at the base of the bars, tying the upper and lower sections together. Behind the metalwork sits a single sheet of clear mirror glass — unbevelled — backed by a plastic sheet board for weather resistance. The overall effect is of a large vintage window mirror, the kind you might find set into a Mediterranean courtyard wall. At 2.5 cm deep with a frame width of roughly 2.5 cm, the profile is slim enough to sit close to the wall without looking bulky.
Size & Placement
Measuring 140 cm tall by 65 cm wide, this is a generously sized piece without being overwhelming. Outdoors, we often suggest mounting it on a rendered or brick garden wall where it can reflect borders, trees, or sky — an old trick for making a small courtyard feel twice its size. Because it is rated for indoor and outdoor use, it transitions happily to a hallway, dining room, or above a console table in a living room. At 140 cm in height, it sits neatly above most sideboards and radiator covers while still commanding attention. The flat bottom edge also means you can lean it against a wall if you prefer a more relaxed, floor-standing look. Customers who favour an industrial metal window mirror aesthetic will find this pairs well with exposed brick, natural wood, and linen textures.
Hanging & Installation
The mirror comes fitted with two keyhole fixings on the back, spaced for portrait hanging — simply hook them over two screws in your wall. At 12 kg it is not excessively heavy, but we recommend a two-person lift when positioning, and you should use fixings appropriate to your wall type (masonry anchors for brick or stone, suitable plasterboard fixings for stud walls). Do not use string, wire, or chain to hang this mirror. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included. If mounting outdoors, ensure the screws and plugs you choose are corrosion-resistant — stainless steel or zinc-plated fixings work well.
