This large ornate silver wall mirror brings real presence to a room without overwhelming it. Drawn from our Bossington Collection range, a line we return to often when customers ask for richly detailed traditional frames.
Design & Materials
The frame is built from a hardwood core with casting-resin detailing, finished in an antique silver tone that catches the light beautifully. Up close, the craftsmanship is clear: each corner features bold floral and shell-fan carvings, while the rails between carry layered moulding — rope twist, egg-and-dart beading, laurel-leaf bands — all rendered in high relief. The silver finish has a lightly aged quality, with subtle darker undertones in the recesses that give the ornamental work genuine depth rather than a flat, uniform shine. The glass itself is bevelled, adding a polished edge detail that complements the decorative surround.
Size & Placement
At 122 cm tall and 91 cm wide, this is a generously sized rectangular mirror with a frame width of approximately 6 cm on each side. In portrait orientation it sits beautifully above a fireplace, hall console, or dressing area. Flip it to landscape and it becomes a striking overmantle piece or a focal point above a sideboard in a dining room. In our experience, this size works particularly well on walls where you want a statement without resorting to a full-length leaner — it fills the space above mid-height furniture cleanly and proportionally. The flat bottom edge also means you can lean it against a wall if you prefer that relaxed, grounded look. Style-wise, the ornate silver frame pairs naturally with vintage, Victorian, and baroque interiors but also creates a pleasing contrast in more pared-back contemporary settings where a single decorative accent lifts the entire scheme.
Hanging & Installation
This mirror arrives fitted with four D-loops on the rear — two positioned for portrait hanging, two for landscape — so you choose your orientation and hang it directly onto wall screws aligned with the corresponding loops. At 15 kg it is a substantial piece; we recommend a two-person lift during positioning. Do not use string, wire, or chain. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included, so please select fixings appropriate for your wall type — heavier-duty anchors for plasterboard, standard plugs for solid masonry.
For a clean, flush-wall finish, we recommend pairing this mirror with our heavy-duty mirror fittings kit — a hook-and-loop back-plate system designed to sit flat against solid frames.
