A grand leaner built around hand-finished baroque detail
This extra large ornate silver mirror makes a commanding impression the moment it enters a room. Part of our Bossington Collection range, a collection that sells consistently well with our living-room and hallway customers, it pairs generous proportions with intricate carved detailing and bevelled glass that catches the light beautifully.
Design & Materials
The frame is constructed from hardwood and casting resin, providing rigidity at this scale while allowing the ornamental detail to be rendered with real precision. Layered moulding runs along each side — egg-and-dart beading, a plaited laurel strip, and a wave-textured outer edge — all finished in an antique silver that shifts between cool pewter and warmer champagne depending on the light. Each corner carries a pronounced floral cartouche with deeply sculpted leaves, flowers, and scrollwork. At roughly 6 cm wide, the frame gives this ornate silver mirror real presence. The glass is clear and bevelled, offering a crisp reflection framed by a fine polished chamfer.
Size & Placement
At 215 cm tall and 154 cm wide, this is an extra-large decorative wall mirror that rewards a generous stretch of wall. Leaned in portrait against a living-room wall or at the end of a hallway, it reflects the full length of the room and opens up the space considerably. The flat bottom edge sits securely on a hard floor; we recommend placing a slim console table in front to anchor the arrangement. Hung in landscape above a sofa or dining sideboard, the width sits comfortably over most standard furniture. The antique silver finish pairs naturally with vintage or Victorian interiors but also works as a deliberate contrast in pared-back modern schemes — the baroque frame becomes the focal point. Weighing 45 kg, in our experience positioning it as a leaner is the most straightforward option if you prefer to avoid heavy wall fixings.
Hanging & Installation
This mirror arrives fitted with four D-loops on the back, positioned for either portrait or landscape hanging. Align your wall screws with the centre of the corresponding D-loops and hang directly — do not use string, wire, or chain. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included; choose fixings rated for your wall type and the mirror’s 45 kg weight. A two-person lift is strongly recommended for positioning and hanging.
For a clean, flush-wall finish, we recommend pairing this mirror with our heavy-duty mirror fittings kit — a hook-and-loop back-plate system designed to sit flat against solid frames.
