This extra large silver ornate mirror makes an immediate impression — a generous expanse of bevelled glass set within a richly textured antiqued silver frame. Part of our Cheriton Collection range, a collection that sells consistently well with our living room and hallway customers.
Design & Materials
The frame is built from a hardwood core overlaid with casting resin, giving it the depth and definition of traditional carved moulding without excessive weight. Three distinct bands of detailing run along each side: a central ribbed channel flanked by scrolled foliate borders, with decorative fan-shaped corner ornaments tying the design together. The finish is an antiqued silver with darker recesses that accentuate the relief work, lending the frame a sense of age and character rather than flat metallic brightness.
The glass is bevelled around its full perimeter — a subtle angled edge that refracts light and adds a refined, finished look. In our experience, the bevelled edge is what elevates an ornate silver wall mirror from simply large to genuinely elegant.
Size & Placement
At 201 cm tall and 140 cm wide, this is a substantial piece that suits rooms with generous wall space. Hung in portrait above a console table or sideboard, it draws the eye upward and amplifies natural light across the room. In landscape orientation, it sits perfectly above a long sofa — the lifestyle image shows exactly this arrangement, and the proportions work well without overwhelming the seating below.
The flat bottom edge also means you can lean it against a wall as an oversized leaner mirror, a placement that works particularly well in a bedroom or dressing area. At 4 cm deep and 30 kg, it is weighty enough to feel stable when leaned, though we always recommend securing the top to the wall for safety. The large silver decorative frame pairs naturally with antique furniture, period fireplaces, and neutral colour schemes — but it holds its own against darker walls and more contemporary styling too.
Hanging & Installation
This mirror arrives fitted with four D-loops on the back, positioned so you can hang it in either portrait or landscape orientation. Line your wall screws up with the centre of each D-loop and hang the mirror directly — do not use string, wire, or chain. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included, so choose fixings suited to your wall type: heavy-duty rawl plugs and coach screws for masonry, or specialist plasterboard anchors for stud walls.
At 30 kg, this is a two-person lift. Have someone hold the mirror in place while you mark your drill points — it avoids guesswork and ensures the frame sits level first time.
For a clean, flush-wall finish, we recommend pairing this mirror with our heavy-duty mirror fittings kit — a hook-and-loop back-plate system designed to sit flat against solid frames.
