This extra extra large wall mirror makes an immediate impression. At over two metres tall and nearly one and a half metres wide, the Monksilver frame delivers the kind of presence that reshapes how a room feels — opening up space, drawing in light, and anchoring your décor. Part of our Monksilver Collection range, a collection that sells consistently well with our living room and hallway customers.
Design & Materials
The frame is built on a hardwood core overlaid with casting resin, finished in a soft, brushed silver tone that sits somewhere between champagne and antique silver. Each corner features a generous acanthus-leaf cartouche with a raised cabochon-style centre boss, while a delicate beaded inner border runs the full perimeter of the glass. Between the ornamental corners, the rails carry a subtle trailing-leaf motif that adds visual interest without overwhelming the profile. The frame depth is approximately 6 cm, giving it a satisfying solidity on the wall. Behind the ornate surround, the bevelled mirror glass catches and refracts light at its edges, lending the whole piece a refined, layered quality that you would expect from a large ornate silver mirror of this calibre.
Size & Placement
At 201 cm high by 140 cm wide, this is a genuinely oversized silver wall mirror — the kind of piece that transforms a feature wall rather than merely decorating it. Hung in portrait above a console table or sideboard, it creates a striking focal point in a hallway or dining room. Turned landscape, it works beautifully as an extra large decorative wall mirror above a sofa or behind a bed. Thanks to its flat bottom edge, you can also lean it against a wall as a floor-standing leaner mirror — a look we often suggest for bedrooms and dressing areas where you want a full-length reflection without committing to wall fixings. In our experience, vintage large wall mirrors of this scale pair especially well with neutral or period-style interiors, though the cool silver finish also complements contemporary schemes with metallic accents.
Hanging & Installation
At 35 kg, this is a substantial mirror that benefits from two people when it comes to lifting and positioning. It arrives fitted with four D-loops on the back of the frame, arranged so you can hang it in either portrait or landscape orientation. Position your wall screws to align with the centre of the corresponding D-loops, then hang the mirror directly — do not use string, wire, or chain. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included, so choose fixings appropriate for your wall type; for stud walls, ensure you fix into the timber studs or use specialist plasterboard anchors rated for the weight. On solid masonry walls, standard heavy-duty rawl plugs and coach screws will do the job.
For a clean, flush-wall finish, we recommend pairing this mirror with our heavy-duty mirror fittings kit — a hook-and-loop back-plate system designed to sit flat against solid frames.
