This large ornate silver wall mirror brings a touch of refined elegance to any room, pairing a generously sized bevelled glass panel with a beautifully detailed champagne-silver frame. Part of our Monksilver Collection range, a collection that sells consistently well with our living room and dining room customers.
Design & Materials
The frame is constructed from hardwood and casting resin, finished in a warm champagne silver with a subtle antiqued quality that catches the light without appearing overly shiny. Each corner features sculpted acanthus-leaf carvings and shell-like roundels, while a delicate beaded inner border runs the full perimeter — details you can appreciate in the close-up images. The profile is approximately 6 cm wide, substantial enough to frame the glass with authority yet refined enough not to overwhelm. Inside, the bevelled mirror glass adds depth and a gentle light-play at the edges that lifts the entire piece. In our experience, this soft silver tone works particularly well alongside both warm oak furniture and cooler grey upholstery, bridging traditional and contemporary décor with ease.
Size & Placement
At 140 cm tall by 109 cm wide, this is a genuinely large silver ornate mirror that makes a statement without dominating the wall. Hung in portrait above a console table or sideboard, it draws the eye upward and opens out the space — ideal for hallways and dining rooms. Rotated to landscape, it sits beautifully as an overmantle piece above a fireplace or behind a sofa. The flat bottom edge also means you can lean it against a wall for a relaxed, vintage look in a bedroom or dressing area. If you’re working with a rectangular wall space that needs both light and character, this is a shape we reach for often. As a large wall mirror in the antique style, it pairs naturally with period features like dado rails, ornate light fittings, or vintage furniture.
Hanging & Installation
This mirror arrives fitted with four D-loops on the back, positioned so you can hang it in either portrait or landscape orientation. Simply align your wall screws with the centre of the corresponding D-loops and hang the mirror directly — do not use string, wire, or chain. At 15 kg, it has real presence on the wall, and we recommend a two-person lift when positioning. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included, so choose fixings appropriate for your wall type; toggle bolts or specialist plasterboard anchors are advisable for stud walls, while standard rawl plugs work well on solid masonry.
For a clean, flush-wall finish, we recommend pairing this mirror with our heavy-duty mirror fittings kit — a hook-and-loop back-plate system designed to sit flat against solid frames.
