This extra large gold leaner mirror is drawn from our Monksilver Collection — a range that sells consistently well with customers looking for traditional, ornate styling. With its generously proportioned frame and warm gold finish, it introduces a sense of scale and light that lifts any room it enters.
Design & Materials
The frame is built from a hardwood and casting-resin composite, giving it both the structural strength needed at this size and the fine ornamental detail that a single material alone would struggle to deliver. A swept profile runs around the full perimeter, bordered by a delicate beaded inner edge. Each corner is finished with a scrolled acanthus-leaf motif, with a smaller shell-and-leaf accent placed at the midpoint of each side. The gold tone sits in a warm, matte-to-soft-sheen range — closer to antique gold than a brightly polished finish — making it easy to pair with period furniture, vintage décor, or even a more contemporary scheme that needs a focal point with character. Behind the frame, bevelled mirror glass catches and refracts light at the edges, adding a subtle layer of depth. In our experience, this kind of bevel is one of the details that distinguishes a well-made large ornate gold mirror from a flat, featureless alternative.
Size & Placement
At 170 cm tall and 109 cm wide, this is a true full-length piece — tall enough for a head-to-toe reflection yet proportioned so it won’t overwhelm a standard wall. Leaned against a chimney breast in a living room, it creates an instant focal point that bounces light across the space. It works equally well in a wide hallway, propped behind a console table, or mounted above a large sideboard in a dining room. If you’re looking for a large gold wall mirror for a bedroom, hanging it in landscape above a bed or dressing area gives the room a luxurious, boutique-hotel feel. At 28 kg it has a reassuring solidity, and the flat base sits flush against skirting boards when leaned — no risk of rocking.
Hanging & Installation
Four D-loops are pre-fitted to the back of the frame, positioned to allow both portrait and landscape hanging. Line up your wall screws with the centre of each D-loop and hang the mirror directly — no wire or chain is needed, and none should be used at this weight. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included, so choose fixings rated for your wall type; a solid masonry wall will hold this mirror comfortably, while plasterboard or stud walls will need specialist heavy-duty fixings. We recommend a two-person lift for positioning, as the frame is substantial and easier to align with a second pair of hands.
For a clean, flush-wall finish, we recommend pairing this mirror with our heavy-duty mirror fittings kit — a hook-and-loop back-plate system designed to sit flat against solid frames.
