This large ornate gold wall mirror is the kind of piece that anchors a room. Part of our Bossington Collection range, a collection that sells consistently well with our living room and hallway customers, it pairs generous proportions with the layered, sculptural frame detail that defines classic baroque style.
Design & Materials
The frame is built on a hardwood core overlaid with casting resin, allowing the intricate floral and acanthus-leaf carvings to hold crisp, three-dimensional definition. Each corner features a bold scrollwork cartouche, while the rails carry rope-twist mouldings, egg-and-dart borders, and trailing foliage. The finish is an antique gold with subtle dark undertones settled into the recesses — a warm, aged patina rather than a bright metallic. In our experience, this tonal depth helps the mirror sit naturally alongside period furniture and heritage paint palettes.
The glass is bevelled, adding a fine angled edge that catches light. At roughly 6 cm wide, the ornate gold frame has real visual weight without feeling heavy-handed.
Size & Placement
At 122 cm tall and 91 cm wide, this is a substantial decorative wall mirror in gold that commands attention without overwhelming a wall. Hung portrait above a console table, it pairs well with furniture widths of around 100–120 cm. Flip it to landscape and it works beautifully as an overmantle piece above a period fireplace.
The antique gold finish suits Victorian, vintage, and baroque interiors — think jewel-toned walls, velvet upholstery, and brass hardware. It is equally striking against warm taupe or crisp white panelling. We often suggest this large gold rectangular wall mirror for hallways, dining rooms, and formal sitting rooms, though it also brings quiet drama to a generous bedroom. With a flat bottom edge it can lean against a wall for a relaxed gallery look, although at 15 kg we recommend wall mounting for safety.
Hanging & Installation
Four D-loops are fitted on the reverse — two for portrait, two for landscape — so you choose your orientation without additional hardware. Position wall screws to align with the D-loop centres, then hang directly. Do not use string, wire, or chain.
At 15 kg a two-person lift is sensible. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included; use fixings suited to your wall type. On plasterboard, toggle bolts are the safest option; on solid masonry, standard rawl plugs rated for the weight will do.
For a clean, flush-wall finish, we recommend pairing this mirror with our heavy-duty mirror fittings kit — a hook-and-loop back-plate system designed to sit flat against solid frames.
