This large gilt mirror brings immediate grandeur to any interior, pairing a richly detailed baroque frame with a generous 175 × 89 cm mirror plate. Part of our Bossington Collection range, a collection that sells consistently well with our living-room and hallway customers.
Design & Materials
The frame is constructed from hardwood and casting resin, giving it the heft and sharp detail of a period antique without the fragility. Every corner features high-relief floral carvings — acanthus leaves, rosettes, and shell motifs — layered over a rope-twist border and an egg-and-dart inner moulding. The finish is a warm, burnished gold with subtle copper-toned undertones visible in the recesses, adding depth and an aged, antique character that catches the light beautifully. In our experience, this tonal variation is what separates a convincing gilt finish from a flat, spray-painted frame. The bevelled mirror glass sits within a smooth inner surround, and its angled edge softly refracts light around the perimeter.
Size & Placement
At 175 cm tall and 89 cm wide, this is a full-length gold wall mirror that offers genuine head-to-toe reflection in portrait orientation. Hung above a console table in a hallway, it becomes an instant focal point and makes even a narrow space feel twice as deep. In a living room, position it opposite a window to bounce natural light across the room. The flat bottom edge means you can also lean it against a wall for a relaxed, floor-standing look — a style we see chosen most often for bedrooms and dressing areas. Turned landscape, the same mirror works beautifully as a gold antique overmantle, sitting above a fireplace where its ornate frame echoes traditional period detailing. The 10 cm depth of the frame gives it real presence on the wall without looking disproportionate, and the warm gold finish pairs naturally with rich fabrics, dark timber furniture, and both neutral and deep-toned wall colours.
Hanging & Installation
Four D-loops are pre-fitted to the back of the frame, positioned to support both portrait and landscape hanging. Align your wall screws with the centre of the corresponding loops and hang the mirror directly — do not use string, wire, or chain. At 25 kg, this is a substantial piece, so we strongly recommend a two-person lift for positioning. Use fixings appropriate to your wall type: heavy-duty rawl plugs and screws for masonry, or specialist plasterboard anchors rated for the weight if you are fixing into a stud wall. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included.
For a clean, flush-wall finish, we recommend pairing this mirror with our heavy-duty mirror fittings kit — a hook-and-loop back-plate system designed to sit flat against solid frames.
