Built for the Garden, Equally at Home Indoors
This black metal window pane mirror captures the look of a traditional open casement window, with two hinged-style panels set within a sturdy steel frame. A recent addition to our Hexworthy Collection range, it was chosen for its genuinely weathered patina — a finish that suits exposed brick, stone walls, and planted borders without looking out of place.
Design & Materials
The frame is constructed from solid steel with a hand-applied rust patina that blends dark charcoal tones with subtle flashes of teal and copper. Each piece shows natural variation in colour, so no two are identical. The open-casement detail is convincing: two six-pane window sections appear to swing inward at different angles, complete with a small latch detail on the right-hand panel. Behind the clear mirror glass sits a plastic sheet backing board that adds protection and rigidity. The overall effect is industrial and characterful — a black window wall mirror that feels authentically aged rather than artificially distressed. In our experience, the patinated finish pairs especially well with exposed brickwork and weathered timber.
Size & Placement
At 100 cm tall and 73 cm wide, this rectangular black metal framed mirror is a comfortable size for a garden boundary wall or the side of an outbuilding, where it creates the illusion of an open window reflecting sky and foliage. Outdoors, position it at eye level among climbing plants or beside a seating area to draw light into a shaded corner. It is equally effective indoors: above a console table in a hallway, over a fireplace in a rustic living room, or as a focal point in a kitchen-diner with industrial styling. The 3 cm depth keeps the profile slim against the wall. Because the base is flat, you could also lean it on a deep mantelpiece or sturdy shelf for a more relaxed look, though wall-mounting is the most secure option at this weight.
Hanging & Installation
The mirror weighs 10 kg and comes with two keyhole fixings on the back — one on each side — so you simply hook it onto a pair of screws driven into your wall. Do not use string, wire, or chain. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included; use fixings appropriate for your wall type. For exterior brick or stone, stainless-steel or galvanised screws with suitable plugs will give the most reliable hold. For indoor plasterboard walls, heavy-duty plasterboard fixings rated for at least 15 kg each are advisable. We recommend a two-person lift when positioning the mirror to ensure it sits level on both keyhole slots.
