Built for the garden, loved indoors too
This black arch window mirror is a consistent bestseller in our Garden Mirrors range. Its pointed Gothic silhouette, divided by twin lancet arches and a central roundel, draws on the kind of tracery you would find in a medieval chapel window — scaled down to 112 × 61 cm and finished in a robust steel frame that works just as well on a rendered garden wall as it does in a hallway.
Design & Materials
The frame is constructed from steel and finished in a dark, distressed black with subtle gold-toned wear at the edges, giving the piece a convincingly aged, weathered look straight out of the box. Up close, the tubing has a softly rounded profile with visible rivets, adding to the industrial-meets-heritage character. Two tall inner arches rise to meet a circular motif at the crown, all capped by the signature pointed apex. The glass is clear and un-bevelled, set behind the decorative bars so each section catches light and reflections independently — a hallmark of the window mirror style. A plastic sheet backing board protects the rear, helping shield the mirror from moisture when used outdoors.
Size & Placement
At 112 cm tall and 61 cm wide, this is a substantial black window arch mirror without being overwhelming. In the garden, we often suggest mounting it on a boundary wall or fence panel where it can reflect greenery and open up a smaller courtyard or patio. Positioned among climbing plants, it creates the illusion of a second garden glimpsed through an arched window. Indoors, the same dimensions sit comfortably above a console table in a hallway or above a mantelpiece in a living room. The flat bottom edge also means you can lean it against a wall at ground level if you prefer not to drill — a useful option in rented properties or conservatories. Customers tend to pair this with exposed brick, natural stone, or neutral plaster walls, where the distressed metal finish and dark colour stand out without clashing. At 4 cm deep and 12 kg, it has real presence on the wall without feeling bulky.
Hanging & Installation
The mirror has two keyhole fixings on the back — one on each side — so you simply hook it onto a pair of screws already set in the wall at the correct spacing. No string, wire, or chain is needed or recommended. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included; choose fixings appropriate for your wall type (masonry anchors for brick or stone, heavy-duty plasterboard fixings for stud walls). At 12 kg it is manageable for one person, but having a second pair of hands to help align the keyhole slots makes hanging quicker and reduces the risk of scratching the frame. If you are mounting it on a garden wall, ensure the screws are rust-resistant stainless steel or galvanised.
