Built for the garden, loved indoors too
This shabby chic garden mirror is a consistent bestseller in our Garden Mirrors range. Shaped as a classic gothic arch with twin lancet panes and a circular roundel at the top, it draws the eye and bounces light into any space — whether that’s a shaded corner of the patio or a narrow hallway that needs opening up.
Design & Materials
The frame is constructed from steel, giving it genuine weight and durability, and finished in a soft, sandy cream tone with subtle rust-like patina showing through at the edges. That distressed, time-worn texture is what gives the piece its shabby chic character — it looks as though it has spent a lifetime leaning against a country garden wall. The tracery detail inside the arch, with its two slender lancet panels meeting a central roundel, echoes the stonework you would find in a church or chapel window. Mirror glass sits behind each opening, and the back is sealed with a plastic sheet backing board to protect it from the elements. In our experience, the warm cream finish pairs especially well with natural wood fencing, exposed brick, or soft neutral interiors.
Size & Placement
At 112 cm tall and 61 cm wide, this is a generously sized arch mirror that makes a real statement without overwhelming its surroundings. Hung on a garden fence or exterior wall, it creates a convincing illusion of a window looking through to further greenery — a trick that works wonders in smaller, enclosed gardens. Indoors, it sits beautifully above a console table in a hallway or as a feature piece in a living room, and customers tend to pair this with vintage or country-style furnishings. The flat bottom edge also means you can lean it against a wall if you prefer not to fix it permanently. Because it is rated for both indoor and outdoor use, you can move it with the seasons.
Hanging & Installation
The mirror comes fitted with two keyhole fixings on the back — one on each side — so you simply hook it onto a pair of screws driven into your wall or fence at the correct spacing. Do not use string, wire, or chain to hang this mirror. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included; choose fixings appropriate to your wall type (masonry anchors for brick or stone, heavy-duty plasterboard fixings for stud walls). At 12 kg, it is manageable for one person to lift, but having a second pair of hands to hold it in position while you mark the drill points makes the job far easier and ensures it hangs level.
