Built for the garden, striking indoors too
This gold free standing mirror takes the form of a four-sided obelisk — a tapering column capped with a small pyramid apex. It is a shape we reach for when customers want something genuinely different from the standard rectangular standing mirror, and it delivers visual impact without demanding a large footprint. A recent addition to our Hawkridge Collection range, chosen for its architectural character and year-round versatility.
Design & Materials
The frame is constructed from steel finished in a warm, matte gold tone — smooth and even in texture, with a soft lustre rather than a high shine. Four elongated mirror panels taper inward from the 30 cm square base to a pointed apex, giving the piece its distinctive obelisk silhouette. At the top, a small triangular window on each face adds a lantern-like detail that catches the light beautifully. The mirror glass is clear and unbevelled, held neatly within the slim 2.5 cm steel frame on every side. Because every face is mirrored, the piece reflects its surroundings from every angle — an effect that works particularly well when placed among planting or against a bold wall colour.
Size & Placement
At 150 cm tall, this free standing gold mirror sits at roughly eye level, making it a noticeable focal point without towering over furniture. The narrow 30 cm base means it tucks into corners, alcoves, or alongside a console table with ease. Indoors, it pairs naturally with modern or geometric décor — think clean-lined furniture and metallic accents. In a bedroom, it adds sculptural interest beside a wardrobe or dressing area. Outdoors, position it on a patio, decked area, or within a border to create depth and reflected greenery. Its suitability for both indoor and outdoor use gives you genuine flexibility — a large gold free standing mirror that doubles as a garden ornament is a rare find. At 10 kg it is substantial enough to feel solid, yet light enough to reposition seasonally.
Hanging & Installation
This ornament is entirely free standing — no wall fixings or leaning required. Pre-drilled fixing holes are built into brackets around the base, allowing you to secure the mirror to the ground or floor with bolts or screws. We recommend doing this if you plan to place the mirror outside; even in a sheltered spot, wind can catch a tall, narrow piece and topple it. Screws and bolts are not included, so choose fixings suitable for your floor type — rawl plugs and coach screws for paving, ground anchors for soil or decking. Indoors, on a flat, hard floor, the mirror stands securely under its own weight, though bolting down is still an option if you have young children or pets.
