Built for the garden, equally at home indoors
This large round black mirror pairs a generous 126 × 120 cm profile with a slim steel frame finished in a deep coal-black tone, making it one of the most versatile pieces in our collection. A recent addition to our Tavistarc Collection range, it was chosen for its clean silhouette and dual indoor–outdoor capability — a combination that works just as well on a living room chimney breast as it does mounted on a sunny garden wall.
Design & Materials
The frame is constructed from steel with a matte black finish that sits quietly against both dark and neutral backgrounds. At roughly 2.5 cm wide, the frame is deliberately understated — just enough to define the mirror’s edge without competing with what it reflects. A distinctive flat bottom gives the circle a subtle D-shape, allowing it to rest level on a shelf or mantelpiece. The glass is clear and un-bevelled, delivering a crisp, undistorted reflection. On the reverse, a plastic sheet backing board protects the silvering, an important detail for any mirror that may spend time outdoors. In our experience, this kind of pared-back black metal round mirror suits both industrial interiors and more traditional settings — the simplicity of the design lets it adapt.
Size & Placement
At 126 cm tall and 120 cm wide, this is a genuinely large round wall mirror — big enough to serve as the centrepiece of a room, yet the slim frame keeps it feeling light on the wall. Positioned above a standard fireplace, it fills the overmantle space without overpowering the surround. The flat bottom means you can lean it on a mantelpiece or console table for a relaxed, unfitted look; alternatively, hang it traditionally for a cleaner line. Outdoors, a large black round mirror like this transforms a garden wall or fence into something far more interesting, reflecting planting, sky, and light to open up even a compact courtyard. It weighs 18 kg, so the wall or structure needs to be solid — brick, stone, or a well-braced fence panel all work well. We often suggest this for entertaining areas where you want to double the visual depth of a patio or terrace.
Hanging & Installation
The mirror comes with a single keyhole fixing on the top rail at the back, designed for portrait hanging. Simply drive a suitable screw into your wall and hook the mirror over it — no wires, string, or chain should be used. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included, so choose fixings appropriate to your wall type: standard rawl plugs for masonry, or heavy-duty plasterboard fixings if you are hanging on a stud wall indoors. At 18 kg, this is a two-person lift; have someone steady the mirror while you position it on the screw. If mounting outdoors, stainless-steel or galvanised screws will resist corrosion far better than standard zinc-plated ones.
