Sculpture meets reflection
This black metal wall mirror is a piece you notice twice — first for its sinuous, almost totem-like silhouette, then for the way each mirrored petal catches light and greenery from the space around it. A recent addition to our Stringston Collection range, it was chosen for its ability to bridge the gap between decorative wall art and functional mirror.
Design & Materials
Seven teardrop-shaped petal panels are linked in a continuous vertical cascade, each framed in a slim, gently curving steel surround finished in a smooth matte black. The frame profile is around 2.5 cm wide, giving each petal enough definition without adding visual weight. Up close, the steel has a clean, powder-coated texture — no gloss, no distressing — which pairs naturally with both modern interiors and rustic garden settings. The glass in each petal section is flat and clear, offering bright, undistorted reflections that pick up surrounding colour and movement. A plastic sheet backing board seals the rear, helping to protect the mirror panels from moisture when used outdoors.
Size & Placement
At 124 cm tall and just 15 cm wide, this is one of the narrowest mirrors we stock, and that slender proportion is the whole point. We often suggest this for spaces where a conventional mirror simply would not fit: a slim strip of wall between two doorways, a pergola post, a garden fence panel, or a narrow hallway alcove. In the garden, its dark steel frame and elongated shape create a bold contrast against timber fencing or climbing foliage — it functions almost as metal garden wall art that happens to reflect light. Indoors, it works beautifully in a tight corridor, stairwell, or beside a tall bookcase. If you have a larger blank wall, consider hanging two or three spaced evenly apart for a sculptural gallery effect. At 5 kg it carries enough substance to feel robust without being unwieldy.
Hanging & Installation
The mirror hangs in portrait orientation only, using a single keyhole fixing on the top rail at the back. Simply drive a screw into your wall and hook the mirror over it — no wire, string, or chain should be used. For masonry walls, a rawl plug and a No. 8 or No. 10 screw will hold the 5 kg weight securely; for plasterboard or stud walls, use a suitable hollow-wall anchor rated for at least 10 kg to allow a safety margin. Wall screws and plugs are not included, so choose fixings appropriate to your wall type. Because the mirror is light and narrow, one person can manage the installation comfortably.
