Built for the garden, loved indoors too
This mirrored metal garden obelisk takes the familiar concept of a full-length mirror and reimagines it as a four-sided tower — a tapered obelisk form topped with an open pyramid cap that gives it a quietly architectural presence. A recent addition to our Hawkridge Collection range, chosen for its ability to work as both a practical mirror and a genuine sculptural accent.
Design & Materials
The frame is constructed from steel with a matte black powder-coat finish that resists the elements and sits comfortably alongside modern and industrial interiors alike. Four clear glass mirror panels are set into the tapered frame, each narrowing as they rise toward the pyramid crown. The metalwork is clean-lined with a slim 2.5 cm profile, giving the piece a graphic, geometric quality without feeling heavy-handed. Up close, the matte texture has a subtle softness — no gloss, no shine on the frame itself — so all the light play comes from the mirrored faces rather than the surround. The open triangular cap at the top adds an unexpected finishing detail that lifts the design beyond a simple mirror column.
Size & Placement
Standing 150 cm tall with a 30 cm × 30 cm base, this is a black metal free standing mirror that commands attention without consuming floor space. The narrow footprint means it tucks neatly into a bedroom corner, beside a hallway console, or at the end of a landing — anywhere you want a vertical accent. Because it is rated for indoor and outdoor use, we often suggest this for garden borders, patio edges, or courtyard corners where it can reflect foliage and sky, adding depth and light to planted areas. At 10 kg it is substantial enough to feel grounded yet manageable to reposition as the seasons change. If you are after a modern free standing mirror that doubles as garden art, the obelisk form offers something quite different from a standard large free standing mirror leaned against a wall.
Hanging & Installation
This mirror is entirely free standing — no wall fixing is required. The base features pre-drilled brackets that allow you to bolt or screw the tower to the ground or floor for added stability. In our experience, securing it this way is well worth the small effort if you plan to place it outdoors, where wind could catch the mirrored surfaces and topple the piece. Screws and bolts are not included; choose fixings appropriate to your surface, whether that is a patio slab, decking, or an interior wooden floor. Indoors on a flat, solid surface, many customers simply stand it freely and leave it unsecured.
