Classical Elegance Above the Mantelpiece
This silver arch wall mirror pairs a sweeping arched silhouette with an ornate filigree crown crest, creating a focal point that feels both timeless and refined. A steady performer in our Wall Mirrors line-up — chosen repeatedly by customers looking for decorative silver pieces with genuine period character.
Design & Materials
The frame is constructed from steel finished in a cool, lightly antiqued silver tone that sits comfortably between polished chrome and aged pewter. Running the full perimeter of the arch is a finely detailed beaded edge — dozens of tiny raised spheres that catch the light and lend the frame a jewellery-like quality you can appreciate even from across the room. At the top centre, a decorative filigree crown crest rises above the arch, featuring scrollwork, acanthus leaves, and small floral motifs rendered in the same silver finish.
The mirror glass is bevelled, adding a subtle prismatic edge that enhances the overall sense of craftsmanship. Behind the glass, a plastic sheet backing board keeps everything protected and secure. The frame profile is slender — approximately 4 cm wide — so the ornament comes from the beading and crest rather than a heavy surround, giving the piece a lighter, more elegant presence on the wall.
Size & Placement
At 102 cm tall and 80 cm wide, this ornate silver wall mirror is proportioned specifically for overmantle use. It sits beautifully above a standard fireplace without overwhelming the chimney breast, and the arched top draws the eye upward, making ceilings feel higher. We often suggest this for living rooms and reception rooms where the mantelpiece is the natural anchor of the space.
Beyond the fireplace, this silver metal wall mirror also works well above a console table in a hallway or centred on a feature wall in a dining room. The flat bottom edge means it can lean on a deep mantelshelf if you prefer not to drill, though wall-mounting will always give the most secure result at this weight. Its baroque styling pairs naturally with period furniture, but customers also use pieces like this to introduce a single statement of ornament into an otherwise modern, pared-back room.
Hanging & Installation
The mirror comes fitted with two keyhole fixings on the back, so installation is straightforward — simply hook them onto two screws set at the correct spacing. At 14 kg, this is a substantial piece; in our experience, a two-person lift makes positioning far easier and safer. Do not use string, wire, or chain to hang this mirror.
Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included, so please choose fixings appropriate for your wall type. For solid masonry, standard rawl plugs and screws will do the job. For stud or plasterboard walls, use dedicated plasterboard anchors rated to support the weight comfortably — if in doubt, fix directly into a timber stud for added peace of mind.
