This vintage silver wall mirror pairs classical ornamental detail with a warm, aged silver finish that sits comfortably alongside both traditional and contemporary interiors. Part of our Langford Collection range, a collection that sells consistently well with our living room and hallway customers.
Design & Materials
The frame is built on a hardwood core with casting-resin mouldings that deliver real depth and definition. A fine cross-hatch lattice pattern runs along each rail, bordered by rope-twist edging and a delicate leaf frieze on the outer rim. Prominent floral cartouches anchor every corner and the centre of each side, giving the frame a layered, almost architectural quality. The silver finish has a subtle antiqued patina — not bright chrome but a softer, tarnished tone with darker recesses that highlight the relief work. In our experience, this kind of tonal variation reads far more convincingly than a flat metallic spray and pairs naturally with antique decorative wall mirrors or vintage wood furniture.
The glass itself is bevelled, with a clean, angled edge that catches the light and adds a gentle frame-within-a-frame effect. Backing is a solid wood-based board, keeping the overall construction rigid and well-protected.
Size & Placement
At 112 cm tall and 81 cm wide, this is a generous rectangular silver wall mirror without being overwhelming. Hung in portrait above a console table or sideboard, it creates a classic focal point in a hallway or living room. Switch to landscape and it works beautifully as an overmantle piece — a standard UK fireplace surround is typically around 90–120 cm wide, so the frame sits neatly within that range. The 7 cm frame depth gives it a satisfying presence on the wall without protruding too far. With a flat bottom edge, you could also lean this antique silver framed wall mirror against a wall on a mantelpiece shelf or atop a chest of drawers for a more relaxed, layered look. Its warm silver tone complements grey, navy, cream, and blush colour schemes particularly well.
Hanging & Installation
The mirror comes fitted with four D-loops on the back, positioned so you can hang it in either portrait or landscape orientation. Simply align your wall screws with the centre of the corresponding D-loops and hang directly — do not use string, wire, or chain. At 10 kg, this is a manageable weight for one person to position, though a second pair of hands is always helpful when lining up fixings at height. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included, so choose fixings appropriate to your wall type — standard rawl plugs for masonry, or dedicated plasterboard anchors for stud walls.
For a clean, flush-wall finish, we recommend pairing this mirror with our heavy-duty mirror fittings kit — a hook-and-loop back-plate system designed to sit flat against solid frames.
