Built for the garden, equally striking indoors
This extra large black window mirror pairs the clean geometry of a window-pane grid with the scale to transform any wall it sits against. A recent addition to our Lydeard Collection range, chosen for its ability to work just as comfortably outdoors against brickwork as it does leaning in a hallway or bedroom.
Design & Materials
The frame is constructed from steel, finished in a matt black coating that keeps the look understated and architectural. Two slim vertical bars and two horizontal bars divide the glass into a grid pattern — a large central panel flanked by narrower side panes, with three smaller sections across the top and bottom. The effect draws from industrial Crittall-style glazing without overwhelming the reflective surface. There are no bevelled edges; the mirror glass is clear and flat, giving a crisp, undistorted reflection. Behind the glass, a plastic sheet backing board protects against moisture ingress — a practical touch that supports the mirror’s suitability for outdoor use.
Size & Placement
At 200 cm tall and 120 cm wide, this is a genuinely oversized piece — one we often suggest for spaces that need a strong focal point. Leaned against a living room or bedroom wall, it works as a large black metal leaner mirror that opens up the room and bounces natural light into darker corners. In the garden, mount it on a brick or rendered wall to reflect planting and sky, instantly creating the illusion of depth in a courtyard or along a fence line. It also makes a striking extra large modern wall mirror in a hallway, hotel reception, or restaurant interior. The 3.5 cm depth keeps the profile slim, so it sits close to the surface whether hung or leaned. Because the base is flat, leaning is stable and straightforward — just ensure the floor surface is level and the wall behind is sound.
Hanging & Installation
The mirror has four keyhole fixings on the back, allowing you to hang it in either portrait or landscape orientation. Position your wall screws to line up with the centre of the corresponding keyholes, then hook the mirror on. At 20 kg, this is a two-person lift — have someone steady the frame while you align the fixings. Use plugs and screws appropriate to your wall type: heavy-duty rawl plugs for masonry, or suitable plasterboard anchors if hanging on a stud wall. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included. Important: do not use string, wire, or chain to hang this mirror.
