Solid timber, generous scale
This extra large wood framed mirror makes an immediate impression. At over two metres tall, it anchors a room with quiet confidence — reflecting light and space while adding the warmth that only real timber can bring. Part of our Sandford Collection range, a collection that sells consistently well with our bedroom and living-room customers.
Design & Materials
The frame is built from solid hardwood, stained to a warm mid-brown tone with visible knots, grain lines, and natural colour variation across every plank. In our experience, this kind of honest, characterful finish is what sets a real wood mirror apart from veneer or painted alternatives. The timber has a lightly waxed, satin sheen rather than a high-gloss lacquer, letting the natural texture come through. Each corner is cleanly joined, and the broad, flat profile — approximately 3 cm wide — keeps the look simple and unfussy. Behind the glass sits a wood-based backing board for rigidity, and the mirror plate itself is clear, distortion-free glass without a bevelled edge, giving the piece a clean, contemporary feel despite its rustic frame.
Size & Placement
At 213 cm tall and 152 cm wide, this large rectangular wood framed mirror commands attention without needing anything else on the wall beside it. Its flat base means it can lean safely against a wall — a look we often suggest for bedrooms and dressing areas where you want a full-length view without committing to permanent fixings. Propped at the end of a hallway, it doubles the sense of depth; positioned in a living room behind a low console or sideboard, it bounces daylight deep into the space. Because the mirror hangs in both portrait and landscape, you can also mount it horizontally above a long dining table or sofa for a dramatic wood framed rectangular wall mirror feature. At 47 kg, this is a substantial piece — worth considering your floor and wall capacity before deciding on placement.
Hanging & Installation
Four D-loops are pre-fitted to the back of the frame, positioned so you can hang the mirror in either portrait or landscape. Align your wall screws with the centre of each D-loop and hang the mirror directly — do not use string, wire, or chain. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included, so choose fixings rated for your wall type (solid masonry, plasterboard, or stud). Given the weight — 47 kg — this is very much a two-person job, both for lifting into position and for marking drill points accurately. On stud walls, ensure at least two fixings hit solid timber studs for adequate support.
For a clean, flush-wall finish, we recommend pairing this mirror with our heavy-duty mirror fittings kit — a hook-and-loop back-plate system designed to sit flat against solid frames.
