This vintage wood mirror pairs a generous rectangular glass with a broad, dark-stained hardwood frame that lets the natural grain do the talking. Part of our Sandford Collection range, a collection that sells consistently well with our living room and hallway customers.
Design & Materials
The frame is crafted from solid hardwood, stained to a rich, warm brown that sits somewhere between dark oak and walnut. Each piece of timber carries its own character — visible knots, swirling grain patterns, and subtle tonal shifts that give the mirror a distinctly organic, lived-in feel. The profile is flat and wide at approximately 3 cm deep, with clean mitred corners that keep the overall look unfussy. There is no bevelled edge on the glass; instead, the clear mirror panel meets the inner frame cleanly, offering a crisp, undistorted reflection. A wood-based backing board adds rigidity to the structure and helps protect the mirror plate over time.
Size & Placement
At 93 cm tall and 68 cm wide, this wood framed rectangular wall mirror sits comfortably in the medium-width bracket — large enough to make an impact, without overwhelming a standard UK wall. In portrait orientation, it works particularly well above a console table in a hallway or over a chest of drawers in a bedroom. Flip it to landscape and it becomes a natural overmantle piece above a fireplace or sideboard. We often suggest this for rooms with neutral or earthy palettes — think linen sofas, stone-coloured walls, or warm grey tones — where the dark wood frame adds grounding warmth without competing with the rest of your décor. The flat bottom edge also means it can lean against a wall if you prefer a more relaxed, informal look, perhaps resting on a mantelpiece or atop a low shelf unit.
Hanging & Installation
This mirror comes fitted with four D-loops on the back of the frame, positioned so you can hang it in either portrait or landscape orientation. Position your wall screws to line up with the centre of the corresponding D-loops, then hang the mirror directly — do not use string, wire, or chain. At 12 kg, it has a solid, reassuring weight that reflects the quality of the hardwood frame, though it is still manageable for one person during installation. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included, so choose fixings appropriate to your wall type; for plasterboard or stud walls, cavity fixings rated for the weight are essential.
For a clean, flush-wall finish, we recommend pairing this mirror with our heavy-duty mirror fittings kit — a hook-and-loop back-plate system designed to sit flat against solid frames.
