This large dark wood mirror pairs a generously sized glass panel with a broad hardwood frame finished in a rich, warm brown stain. Part of our Sandford Collection range, a collection that sells consistently well with our living-room and hallway customers — it brings quiet, grounded character to any space without competing with the rest of your décor.
Design & Materials
The frame is built from solid hardwood planks, each one displaying its own natural grain pattern, knots, and tonal variation. A medium-brown stain has been applied to bring out the depth of the timber, settling darker around the knot holes and lighter across the open grain — the result is a warm, lived-in finish that feels authentically rustic rather than manufactured. The wide frame profile (approximately 13 cm on each side) gives the mirror real visual weight, while simple butt-jointed corners keep the look clean and unfussy. Behind the glass sits a wood-based backing board for rigidity, and the mirror glass itself is clear and unembellished — no bevel — so your reflection stays crisp and undistorted. In our experience, this kind of natural wood mirror sits just as comfortably alongside painted furniture as it does next to exposed brick or stone.
Size & Placement
At 178 cm tall and 117 cm wide, this is a genuinely large rectangular wood framed mirror — close to full-length, so it gives you a head-to-toe view when standing a step or two back. The flat bottom edge means you can lean it directly against a wall at a gentle angle, which suits bedrooms and dressing areas where you want a relaxed, floor-level stance. Hung in portrait, it anchors a hallway or landing wall; switch to landscape and it spans the width of a mantelpiece or sits above a sideboard in a dining room. The 4 cm depth keeps it relatively flush to the wall despite its substantial frame. If you are furnishing a room with wooden or plain-style pieces in warm brown tones, this large dark wood mirror will echo those materials without overwhelming the scheme.
Hanging & Installation
The mirror arrives with four D-loops already fitted to the back of the frame — two positioned for portrait hanging and two for landscape. Simply line up your wall screws with the centre of the corresponding D-loops and hang the mirror directly onto them. Do not use string, wire, or chain. At 40 kg, this is a heavy piece, so we strongly recommend a two-person lift for positioning and hanging. Make sure your fixings are rated for the weight and suited to your wall type — heavy-duty rawl plugs for masonry, or appropriate anchors for stud walls. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included.
For a clean, flush-wall finish, we recommend pairing this mirror with our heavy-duty mirror fittings kit — a hook-and-loop back-plate system designed to sit flat against solid frames.
