Built for the garden, equally at home indoors
This black gothic wall mirror draws its character from classic cathedral window architecture — three tall lancet arches rising to a pointed peak, divided by slender metal glazing bars. Part of our Arscott Collection range, a collection that sells consistently well with our garden-mirror customers. At 83 × 48 cm it is compact enough to tuck into a border wall or courtyard yet bold enough to hold its own on a living room or hallway wall.
Design & Materials
The frame is constructed from steel finished in a smooth matte black coating, giving it a clean, contemporary edge while nodding to traditional gothic tracery. Two pointed arches sit within the outer arch, meeting at a central peak, and a horizontal glazing bar near the base creates three lower rectangular panes — mimicking a classic church window. The profile is slender at roughly 2.5 cm wide, so the frame defines the mirror’s shape without feeling heavy. Clear, unbevelled glass fills each pane, delivering a crisp reflection whether it is catching sunlight in the garden or lamplight indoors. A plastic sheet backing board protects the rear.
Size & Placement
At 83 cm high and 48 cm wide, this black arch wall mirror sits comfortably in spaces where a larger garden mirror would overwhelm — think a fence panel between planters, a sheltered patio nook, or a narrow section of brick wall. In our experience, mirrors of this scale work particularly well when positioned at eye level against foliage; the reflected greenery creates the illusion of a window onto a deeper garden. Indoors, it suits a hallway, cloakroom, or above a console table. The flat bottom edge means you could also lean it on a mantelpiece or shelf for a relaxed, layered look. Because the piece is rated for outdoor use, the metal frame and backing are designed to withstand typical UK weather, though a sheltered spot will keep it looking its best for longer.
Hanging & Installation
The mirror has one keyhole fixing on the top rail at the back, so hanging is straightforward — simply drive a screw into the wall and hook the mirror over it. At 7.5 kg it is manageable for one person, though a second pair of hands makes levelling easier. Do not use string, wire, or chain to hang this mirror. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included; use fixings suited to your wall type. For exterior brick or stone, stainless-steel or galvanised screws and appropriate plugs will give the most secure hold. On indoor plasterboard, a heavy-duty wall anchor rated for at least 10 kg is a sensible choice.
