Built for the garden, equally at home indoors
This decorative free standing mirror breaks away from convention. Rather than a flat pane in a rectangular frame, it takes the form of a four-sided obelisk — a slender, tapered column clad entirely in mirror glass and bound by a gold-finished steel frame. A recent addition to our Hawkridge Collection range, it was chosen for its ability to work as both a reflective sculpture and a practical light-catcher in spaces where a standard mirror simply would not fit.
Design & Materials
The frame is constructed from steel tubing finished in a smooth, satin-gold coating that sits between matte and glossy — warm without being brassy. Four trapezoidal mirror panels run from the wide base to a pointed pyramidal apex, giving the piece its distinctive obelisk silhouette. At the top, small triangular mirror inserts fill each face of the pyramid tip, completing the geometric form. The glass is clear and un-bevelled, providing clean reflections that pick up surrounding greenery, furniture, and sky. Every edge is neatly enclosed within the steel frame, so there are no exposed glass borders. The overall effect is modern and geometric, yet the gold tone softens it enough to sit comfortably alongside both contemporary and more classic décor.
Size & Placement
At 100 cm tall and just 20 cm wide at the base, this free standing gold mirror occupies very little floor space — a shape we reach for when a client wants visual interest without sacrificing square footage. It works beautifully on a decked terrace or patio, positioned between planters to bounce light into shaded corners. Indoors, try it beside an armchair, in a narrow hallway, or as a sculptural accent on a mantelpiece hearth. Because mirror glass wraps all four sides, the piece looks equally good from any angle, making it ideal for open-plan rooms or island positions where it can be walked around. Its 20 cm depth keeps the footprint compact, so it tucks neatly against a wall or into a corner without protruding into a walkway. At 10 kg it feels substantial and stable, yet light enough to reposition when you want a change of scene.
Hanging & Installation
This mirror is free standing — no wall fixings or hanging hardware are needed. Simply place it on any level surface and it is ready to enjoy. Pre-drilled brackets at the base allow you to bolt or screw the piece to the floor or ground for added security. If you plan to display it outdoors, we recommend securing it this way to prevent wind from toppling it and risking the glass. Screws and bolts are not included; use fixings appropriate to your floor type, whether that is timber decking, concrete, or an interior wooden floor. Indoors on a stable, flat surface, the metal free standing mirror sits securely under its own weight without the need for additional fixings.
