This ornate gold rectangular mirror pairs classical carved detailing with a warm, muted gold finish that sits comfortably alongside both traditional and contemporary interiors. Drawn from our Monksilver Collection range, a line we return to often when customers ask for decorative frames with real presence.
Design & Materials
The frame is built from hardwood and casting resin, giving the moulded detailing genuine depth and definition. Each corner features a raised acanthus-leaf cartouche with scrollwork that cascades partway along the rails, while a continuous bead border runs the full inner perimeter of the frame. The gold finish has a soft, satin-like lustre — not high-gloss and not flat — with subtle tonal variation in the recesses that lends the piece an antique gold character without looking artificially distressed.
At 6 cm wide, the frame profile is substantial enough to read as a statement piece yet restrained enough to avoid overwhelming the glass. The mirror glass itself is bevelled at the edge, adding a clean faceted line that catches the light and gives the piece a finished, polished quality you would expect from a decorative wall mirror in gold.
Size & Placement
Measuring 110 cm tall by 79 cm wide, this is a medium-large wall mirror that offers genuine visual impact without dominating a room. Hung in portrait, it sits naturally above a console table or sideboard in a hallway, or works beautifully as a focal point over a mantelpiece or dressing table. In landscape orientation, we often suggest this for above a sofa or bed headboard, where the proportions create a pleasing horizontal anchor.
The warm gold tone pairs well with period furniture, dark wood, and rich fabrics — think deep greens, navy, or burgundy. It also works surprisingly well in lighter, more pared-back schemes where a single vintage antique gold mirror provides warmth and texture against pale walls. With a flat bottom edge, you could also lean it on a deep shelf or mantlepiece for a relaxed, layered look.
Hanging & Installation
This mirror comes fitted with four D-loops on the back — two positioned for portrait hanging and two for landscape — so you can choose the orientation that works best for your space. Simply position your wall screws to align with the corresponding D-loops and hang the mirror directly onto them. Do not use string, wire, or chain.
At 10 kg, it is manageable for two people to lift into position. We recommend checking your wall type before you begin: solid masonry walls will take standard rawl plugs and screws, while plasterboard or stud walls need specialist fixings rated for the weight. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included.
For a clean, flush-wall finish, we recommend pairing this mirror with our heavy-duty mirror fittings kit — a hook-and-loop back-plate system designed to sit flat against solid frames.
