A grand mirror for rooms that deserve one
This extra large white ornate mirror delivers real visual impact, combining a generously scaled rectangular frame with refined period detailing. Drawn from our Monksilver Collection, a line we return to often when customers ask for vintage-inspired elegance in a lighter palette.
Design & Materials
The frame is constructed from hardwood and casting resin, finished in a warm ivory-white with subtle tonal variation that gives it a soft, aged quality rather than a flat modern white. Each corner carries a scrolling acanthus-leaf cartouche, while a fine beaded moulding runs the full inner perimeter, framing the glass with quiet precision. The surface has a gentle sheen — not high-gloss, but enough to catch the light and highlight the carved relief. Behind the decorative face sits a wood-based backing board for rigidity. The mirror glass itself is bevelled, adding a refined edge detail that catches and refracts light beautifully. In our experience, this style of ornate frame in a pale finish pairs effortlessly with both shabby chic and more formal vintage interiors, softening a room without disappearing into it.
Size & Placement
At 201 cm tall and 140 cm wide, this is a genuinely large ornate leaner mirror — one that commands attention without overwhelming a well-proportioned room. Stood portrait against a living room or bedroom wall, it creates an instant focal point and bounces light deep into the space. Flip it to landscape and it works as an extra large decorative wall mirror above a long sideboard, console table, or dining-room credenza — the 140 cm height in that orientation still delivers a generous reflective surface. It sits flat thanks to a level bottom edge, so leaning is stable and straightforward. Customers tend to pair this with exposed brick, neutral linens, and natural timber — the warm ivory tone complements earthy palettes while the carved frame adds a layer of classical detail. It also suits boutique hotel lobbies and bridal-shop fitting areas where a large wall antique mirror with presence is needed.
Hanging & Installation
Four D-loops are pre-fitted to the back of the frame, positioned so you can hang this mirror in either portrait or landscape orientation. Align your wall screws with the centre of each D-loop and hang directly — do not use string, wire, or chain, as the 30 kg weight demands a rigid connection. For masonry walls, heavy-duty rawl plugs rated for the load are essential; on stud walls, fix into the timber studs rather than relying on plasterboard anchors alone. At this size and weight, a second pair of hands is strongly recommended for lifting into position. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included — choose fixings appropriate to your wall type.
For a clean, flush-wall finish, we recommend pairing this mirror with our heavy-duty mirror fittings kit — a hook-and-loop back-plate system designed to sit flat against solid frames.
