Built for the garden, equally loved indoors
This black gothic mirror draws its character from pointed-arch cathedral windows, with a tall, slender silhouette that catches light and reflects greenery or interior details beautifully. Part of our Arscott Collection range, a collection that sells consistently well with our garden mirror customers. At 140 cm tall and just 40 cm wide, it delivers real visual impact without demanding a wide wall space.
Design & Materials
The frame is constructed from steel, finished in a dark, weathered black with subtle distressing that lets flecks of the underlying metal show through — an effect that gives the mirror a convincing aged, architectural quality. The pointed arch at the top is divided into decorative lancet-style panes, while the main body features a grid of square mirror panels separated by the steel mullions, closely echoing a traditional black window mirror arch. Each pane holds clear, unbevelled glass, and the overall profile is slim at roughly 2.5 cm, keeping the frame elegant rather than bulky. A plastic sheet backing board sits behind the mirror panels, adding an extra layer of protection. In our experience, the distressed finish also means this mirror weathers gracefully outdoors, developing a little extra patina over time rather than looking tired.
Size & Placement
Measuring 140 cm high × 40 cm wide × 4 cm deep and weighing 15 kg, this is a large window mirror that makes a confident statement without overwhelming a space. Outdoors, it works beautifully mounted on a garden wall or fence, reflecting planting and sky to create the illusion of depth — we often suggest positioning it at the end of a border or against a rendered wall where it can bounce light back into a shaded corner. Indoors, the narrow width makes it an excellent choice for hallways, alcoves, or the slim wall between two windows. With a flat bottom edge, you can also lean it against a wall at floor level for a relaxed, layered look in a bedroom or living room. Its gothic arch shape pairs naturally with exposed brick, stone finishes, or whitewashed walls, and its dark metal frame sits comfortably alongside industrial-style lighting or rustic wooden furniture.
Hanging & Installation
The mirror has two keyhole fixings on the back, so you simply hook it onto two screws set at the correct spacing — no wire, string, or chain should be used. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included; choose fixings appropriate to your wall type (masonry, brick, timber fence, or plasterboard with suitable anchors). At 15 kg, we recommend a second pair of hands to lift and position the mirror while you mark the screw points. If mounting on a garden wall, ensure both screws are securely fixed into solid material to support the weight long-term.
