Built for the garden, loved indoors too
This large garden mirror with shutters brings an architectural presence wherever you place it. Drawn from our Arscott Collection, a line we return to often when customers ask for characterful window-style mirrors with real outdoor credentials. The arched silhouette, working shutter doors, and antique-effect metalwork combine to create a piece that feels genuinely reclaimed — without the fragility of a salvaged original.
Design & Materials
The frame is constructed from steel with a hand-applied distressed black finish. Look closely and you will see warm gold highlights rubbed through at the edges and along the glazing bars — a detail that lifts the whole piece and prevents the black from reading as flat. The arch top features a pair of Gothic-inspired lancet tracery curves, while the lower section is divided into a grid of rectangular panes that echo traditional cottage-style windows. One side panel is hinged on working metal hinges with a functioning latch clasp, allowing the shutter to swing open for a three-dimensional, trompe-l’œil effect. The mirror glass itself is clear and un-bevelled, backed by a plastic sheet board for weather resistance. It is a full-length black window mirror that reads as decorative rather than purely functional.
Size & Placement
At 160 cm high and 85 cm wide, this is a generous full-length arch wall mirror that commands attention without overwhelming a standard wall. In the garden, we often suggest mounting it on a brick or rendered wall at the end of a border — it catches sky, foliage, and light, making even a compact courtyard feel twice its size. Indoors, it is equally at home in a hallway, above a console table, or leaned against a living-room wall, since its flat bottom edge sits flush on the floor. The 3 cm depth keeps the profile slim against the wall, and the open shutter adds roughly 40 cm of width when swung out. Pair it with exposed brick, dark timber furniture, or industrial-style lighting to echo the metal-framed, rustic aesthetic. Because it is rated for indoor and outdoor use, you can move it with the seasons — garden in summer, dining room in winter.
Hanging & Installation
The mirror has two keyhole fixings on the back, so you simply hook it onto two screws driven into your wall — no wire, string, or chain is needed. At 17 kg, it is a substantial piece; we recommend a two-person lift when positioning it, and you should use heavy-duty fixings suited to your wall type (masonry anchors for brick, toggle bolts for plasterboard). Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included. If you prefer to lean rather than hang, the flat base lets it rest securely against a wall — just ensure it is tilted slightly back for stability.
