This chunky wood mirror pairs a generous rectangular glass with a wide, solid hardwood frame finished in deep, warm brown. Drawn from our Sandford Collection — a line we return to often when customers ask for unfussy, characterful timber mirrors — it brings honest texture and presence to any room.
Design & Materials
The frame is constructed from solid hardwood with a dark brown stain that allows the natural grain, knots, and figuring to show through. Each piece carries its own subtle variations — expect gentle colour shifts and visible knot marks that give this wood wall mirror its handmade quality. The finish has a low-sheen, almost matte surface that catches light softly, making the frame feel warm rather than polished. At roughly 3 cm wide on all four sides, the squared-off timber profile keeps the overall look clean and plain. Behind the clear glass sits a wood-based backing board for rigidity, and the whole piece weighs a solid 14 kg.
Size & Placement
At 118 cm tall by 92 cm wide, this is a generously sized wood framed rectangular wall mirror that commands wall space without overwhelming it. In portrait, it works beautifully above a console table in a hallway — leaving comfortable breathing room on either side of standard 120 cm furniture. Flip to landscape and it sits perfectly above a sofa or as an overmantle piece on a wider chimney breast. The dark brown timber pairs naturally with warm-toned interiors — leather, linen, exposed brick, or oak furniture — and suits modern rustic schemes just as well as traditionally styled rooms. Because the base is flat, you can also lean this large wood framed wall mirror against a wall at floor level for a relaxed feel in a bedroom or dressing area.
Hanging & Installation
This mirror arrives fitted with four D-loops on the rear, positioned to support both portrait and landscape hanging. Fix your wall screws to align with the corresponding D-loop pairs, then hang the mirror directly — no wire or chain is needed or recommended. At 14 kg, we suggest a two-person lift when positioning. Plasterboard walls need specialist anchors rated for the weight; solid masonry holds with standard rawl plugs and screws. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included, so choose fixings rated for at least 20 kg per point.
For a clean, flush-wall finish, we recommend pairing this mirror with our heavy-duty mirror fittings kit — a hook-and-loop back-plate system designed to sit flat against solid frames.
