This large antique wall mirror pairs generous proportions with classical silver detailing, making it an elegant focal point for living rooms, hallways, and bedrooms alike. Drawn from our Monksilver Collection, a line we return to often when customers ask for traditional ornate styling at an accessible price.
Design & Materials
The frame is built from hardwood and casting resin, finished in a warm, brushed silver tone with subtle tonal variation that gives it the depth of a genuine antique piece. Each corner carries a scrolled acanthus-leaf cartouche, while smaller floral motifs sit at the midpoints of all four sides. Running the full inner perimeter is a fine beaded moulding that frames the glass with crisp definition. The profile is approximately 6 cm wide — enough presence to read as ornate without overwhelming the glass area. Bevelled mirror glass catches and refracts light at the edges, adding a refined sparkle that complements the silver finish beautifully.
Size & Placement
At 170 cm tall and 109 cm wide, this is a genuinely large silver ornate wall mirror that commands attention without dominating an entire wall. Hung in portrait above a console table in a hallway, it will reflect both light and the sense of space — particularly useful in narrower entrances. Rotated to landscape, it sits comfortably above a fireplace or sofa as a striking overmantle piece. Because the base is flat, it also works beautifully propped against a wall as a vintage large wall mirror leaner — ideal in a dressing area or master bedroom where you want a full-length view without permanent wall fixings. At 28 kg it has a reassuring solidity, so factor in a sturdy section of wall or a flat, stable floor if leaning.
Hanging & Installation
Four D-loops are pre-fitted to the back of the frame, positioned to support both portrait and landscape hanging. Simply align your wall screws with the centre of the corresponding D-loops and hang the mirror directly — no string, wire, or chain is needed. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included; choose fixings appropriate for your wall type, whether solid masonry or plasterboard with stud support. Given the 28 kg weight, we recommend a two-person lift when positioning this ornate silver mirror, and checking that your fixings are rated well above the mirror’s weight for a secure hold.
For a clean, flush-wall finish, we recommend pairing this mirror with our heavy-duty mirror fittings kit — a hook-and-loop back-plate system designed to sit flat against solid frames.
