This ornate antique wall mirror brings a touch of period charm to any space, pairing a warm ivory frame with crisp bevelled glass for a look that feels refined without being heavy. Part of our Monksilver Collection range, a collection that sells consistently well with our living room and hallway customers.
Design & Materials
The frame is built around a solid hardwood core clad in cast resin, which allows for the deep relief carving you can see at each corner — scrolling acanthus-leaf motifs and shell-like crests that catch the light beautifully. A continuous beaded inner border runs the full perimeter, adding a delicate textural contrast to the broader swept profile. The ivory finish has a soft, lightly brushed quality with subtle tonal variation that gives this vintage ornate wall mirror an authentically aged appearance rather than a flat, factory-painted look. We recommend looking closely at the detail shots: the craftsmanship in the mouldings is genuinely impressive at this price point. The glass itself is bevelled around all four edges, producing a clean, light-catching frame within the frame.
Size & Placement
Measuring 110 cm tall by 79 cm wide with a 6 cm depth, this is a substantial yet manageable decorative rectangular wall mirror. At that height, it sits comfortably above a standard console table or mantelpiece without overwhelming the wall around it — in our experience, this mid-size bracket is the most versatile for UK living rooms and hallways. Hung in landscape, it works well as an overmantle piece above a period fireplace. The ivory tone pairs naturally with white, cream, or pastel walls and complements both shabby chic and traditional interiors. If you have darker furniture — think walnut or oak — the pale frame provides a welcome lift. The flat bottom edge also means you can lean it against a wall on a deep shelf or mantel for a more relaxed, layered look.
Hanging & Installation
This mirror comes fitted with four D-loops on the back of the frame, positioned so you can hang it in either portrait or landscape orientation. Position your wall screws to line up with the centre of the corresponding D-loops, then hang the mirror directly — do not use string, wire, or chain. At 10 kg, it is manageable for one person to lift, but having a second pair of hands to hold the mirror in place while you mark your fixings makes the job far easier and safer. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included, so choose fixings appropriate for your wall type: standard rawl plugs for solid masonry, or specialist plasterboard anchors for stud walls.
For a clean, flush-wall finish, we recommend pairing this mirror with our heavy-duty mirror fittings kit — a hook-and-loop back-plate system designed to sit flat against solid frames.
