This large black decorative mirror pairs a generous full-length glass with a richly detailed baroque frame, creating the kind of focal point that anchors an entire room. Drawn from our Monksilver Collection, a line we return to often when customers ask for ornate, traditional styling in a bold dark finish.
Design & Materials
The frame is constructed from hardwood and casting resin, finished in a deep satin black that highlights every swept curve and corner cartouche. A beaded inner moulding runs the full perimeter, adding a layer of texture between the approximately 6 cm-wide frame and the mirror glass. Each corner carries a symmetrical acanthus-leaf motif, while smaller foliate details punctuate the centre of each rail — elements you can appreciate up close but that read as elegant pattern from across the room. The glass itself is bevelled, catching light along its edges and lending the large black wall mirror a subtle shimmer that lifts the overall look beyond a flat reflection.
Size & Placement
At 170 cm tall and 109 cm wide, this is a genuinely generous piece — tall enough to serve as a full-length dressing mirror yet wide enough to open up a room with reflected light. In our experience, a rectangular mirror of this scale works particularly well centred above a console table in a hallway or leaned against the wall behind a sofa in a living room. The flat bottom edge means it sits securely on a floor surface when leaned at a slight angle, making it a practical choice as a large ornate leaner mirror in a bedroom or dressing area. Hung in landscape orientation above a fireplace, it doubles as a dramatic overmantle statement. Its vintage black frame pairs naturally with warm metallics — aged brass hardware, antique gold picture frames — and sits comfortably alongside both traditional and contemporary furniture.
Hanging & Installation
Four D-loops are pre-fitted on the back, positioned so you can hang the mirror in either portrait or landscape orientation. Line your wall screws up with the centre of the corresponding D-loops and hang the mirror directly — do not use string, wire, or chain. At 28 kg, this is a substantial piece; we recommend a two-person lift when positioning it, and you should use fixings suited to your wall type (solid masonry, plasterboard on stud, etc.). Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included.
For a clean, flush-wall finish, we recommend pairing this mirror with our heavy-duty mirror fittings kit — a hook-and-loop back-plate system designed to sit flat against solid frames.
