Built for the garden, equally at home indoors
This large black metal framed mirror pairs a classic arch shape with a pared-back steel frame, creating a piece that feels contemporary without competing with its surroundings. A recent addition to our Somerton Collection range, it was chosen for its dual indoor-outdoor versatility and its ability to open up even compact garden walls with reflected sky and greenery.
Design & Materials
The frame is constructed from steel finished in a smooth matte black coating — understated enough to let the mirror glass do the talking, yet sturdy enough to withstand the British weather. At roughly 2.5 cm wide, the slim profile keeps the focus on the generous reflective surface while still giving the arch its definition. The glass itself is clear and unbevelled, delivering crisp, undistorted reflections. A plastic sheet backing board seals the rear, protecting the silvering from moisture — a practical detail that matters when a mirror lives outside year-round. In our experience, a matte black arch like this slots comfortably into both modern and industrial schemes, and it pairs especially well with exposed brick, rendered walls, and dark timber fencing.
Size & Placement
Measuring 120 cm tall by 80 cm wide, this is a genuinely large black arch mirror — big enough to create a striking focal point on a garden wall or above a console table, without overwhelming the space. Outdoors, we often suggest mounting it against a brick or stone wall where it can catch climbing plants and shifting clouds in its reflection, mimicking the look of a real arched window. Indoors, it works beautifully above a hallway sideboard, over a mantelpiece, or on a feature wall in a living room. The flat bottom edge means you also have the option of leaning it against a wall at floor level for a relaxed, modern look. With a depth of just 3.3 cm, it sits close to the wall and maintains a sleek, low-profile appearance from every angle.
Hanging & Installation
The mirror comes fitted with two keyhole fixings on the back, so installation is straightforward — simply drive two screws into the wall and hook the mirror over them. At 12 kg it is manageable for one person, though we recommend a second pair of hands to help with positioning and levelling, especially if you are working at height on a garden wall. Do not use string, wire, or chain to hang this mirror. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included, so please use fixings suited to your wall type — masonry anchors for brick or stone, appropriate plasterboard fixings if mounting indoors on a stud wall.
