Built for the garden, loved indoors too
This black cathedral arch wood wall mirror pairs a classic arched silhouette with a pared-back, modern metal frame — giving you the drama of a cathedral shape without any ornamental fuss. A recent addition to our Somerton Collection range, it was chosen for its versatility across indoor and outdoor settings.
Design & Materials
The frame is constructed from steel with a smooth satin-black powder-coat finish that reads as matte in most light. At roughly 2.5 cm wide, the profile is deliberately slim, keeping all the visual weight on the arch form and the clear, unbevelled mirror glass. There are no flourishes, no distressing, and no visible joins — just a continuous line from the flat base, up the straight sides, and around the curved crown. The back is sealed with a rigid plastic sheet backing board, which protects the silvering from moisture and dust, an important detail for a mirror rated for outdoor use. Overall, the look sits comfortably alongside industrial and modern décor, and it pairs particularly well with black metal light fittings, dark-framed shelving, or exposed brickwork.
Size & Placement
At 100 cm tall and 70 cm wide, this is a mid-sized wall mirror — generous enough to open up a space and bounce light, yet compact enough to sit above a console table, sideboard, or mantelpiece without overwhelming the wall. The flat base means you can also lean it on a shelf or mantle if you prefer a more relaxed, unfixed arrangement. For garden placement, we often suggest mounting it on a brick or rendered wall opposite planting beds; the reflected greenery creates a convincing illusion of depth, as the product photographs here demonstrate. Indoors, a hallway or dining-area wall is an equally strong position. If you are looking for a black arch wall mirror that works in a bathroom, bear in mind the steel frame and sealed back cope well in lightly humid rooms, though it is not designed for direct water contact.
Hanging & Installation
The mirror weighs 10 kg and comes with two keyhole fixings pre-fitted to the back, so installation is straightforward: drive two screws into your wall at the correct spacing and hook the mirror on. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included — use fixings appropriate to your wall type (solid masonry, plasterboard with cavity anchors, etc.). We recommend a two-person lift to hold the mirror in position while you mark the second screw point. Do not use string, wire, or chain to hang this mirror; the keyhole slots are designed to sit flush against the wall for a neat, stable result.
