This large white vintage mirror pairs generous proportions with refined period detailing, making it a striking yet versatile addition to any room. A steady performer in our Wall Mirrors line-up — chosen repeatedly by customers looking for classic white ornate frames.
Design & Materials
The frame is constructed from hardwood and casting resin, finished in a clean, glossy white that catches the light beautifully. Each corner carries a prominent acanthus-leaf cartouche, with flowing scrollwork and shell motifs extending along the rails. Between the outer moulding and the glass sits a fine beaded inner border that adds depth and refinement without over-complicating the look. In our experience, this tonal approach — white-on-white ornament — works well in both traditional and contemporary schemes because the frame reads as texture rather than colour. The mirror glass is clear and un-bevelled, giving an uninterrupted reflection across the full panel.
Size & Placement
At 137 cm tall and 46 cm wide, this vintage large wall mirror is proportioned to make a real impact without demanding an oversized wall. Hung portrait, it works beautifully above a console table in a hallway or beside a wardrobe in a bedroom — tall enough to provide a near-full-length view. Flip it to landscape and it becomes a striking statement piece above a dining table or sofa, as shown in our lifestyle image, stretching the visual width of the room. The narrow 46 cm profile also makes it a practical choice for slimmer wall sections between doorways or windows. Because the frame has a flat bottom, you can lean it against a wall in portrait orientation — a relaxed, shabby chic approach that suits bedrooms and dressing areas. With a frame width of approximately 6 cm and a depth of 5 cm, it sits close enough to the wall to feel streamlined while still projecting real presence.
Hanging & Installation
This white ornate wall mirror comes fitted with four D-loops on the back — two pairs positioned so you can hang it either portrait or landscape. Position your wall screws to align with the centre of the corresponding D-loops, then hang the mirror directly. Do not use string, wire, or chain. At 10 kg, we recommend a two-person lift during installation for comfort and safety. For plasterboard or stud walls, use appropriate cavity fixings rated for the weight; on solid masonry, standard rawl plugs and screws will do the job. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included — choose fixings suited to your wall type.
For a clean, flush-wall finish, we recommend pairing this mirror with our heavy-duty mirror fittings kit — a hook-and-loop back-plate system designed to sit flat against solid frames.
