This white distressed mirror shabby chic wall piece pairs classical carved detailing with a soft, matte white finish that lends warmth and texture to any room. A steady performer in our Wall Mirrors line-up — chosen repeatedly by customers looking for ornate vintage character at a manageable size.
Design & Materials
The frame is built from a hardwood core overlaid with casting resin, allowing the ornate corner cartouches, scrollwork, and beaded inner border to be rendered in crisp, consistent relief. A matte white paint has been applied over the moulded surface and lightly distressed to reveal subtle tonal variation — the effect is an antique white wall mirror that feels established rather than brand-new. The glass is clear and un-bevelled, set within the beaded inner lip, giving a generous reflective area of roughly 64 cm × 54 cm. A wood-based backing board closes the rear and keeps the frame rigid at just 5 cm deep.
Size & Placement
At 76 cm tall and 66 cm wide, this is a compact rectangular wall mirror that works well above a console table, desk, or chest of drawers without dominating the wall. We often suggest this for bedrooms and hallways where a vintage white wall mirror brings softness and light without overwhelming smaller spaces. Hung in landscape above a dressing table it creates a practical yet decorative focal point; in portrait it suits a narrow hallway or alcove neatly. The white shabby chic wall mirror finish pairs naturally with painted furniture, linen textures, and muted pastels — though the clean white tones also hold their own against darker wood or charcoal accent walls. Because the frame has a flat bottom edge, you can also lean it on a mantlepiece or deep shelf for a more relaxed, layered look.
Hanging & Installation
Four D-loops are pre-fitted on the back of the frame, positioned so you can hang the mirror in either portrait or landscape orientation. Line up your wall screws with the centre of the corresponding pair of D-loops and hang the mirror directly — do not use string, wire, or chain. At 5 kg the mirror is straightforward for one person to lift, though a second pair of hands is always helpful when marking and levelling. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included; choose fixings appropriate to your wall type (plasterboard, brick, or stud). In our experience, a solid masonry fixing gives the most secure hold for any framed mirror of this weight.
For a clean, flush-wall finish, we recommend pairing this mirror with our heavy-duty mirror fittings kit — a hook-and-loop back-plate system designed to sit flat against solid frames.
