This antique ornate gold wall mirror pairs a generous reflective surface with a richly detailed frame that brings warmth and character to any room. A steady performer in our Wall Mirrors line-up — chosen repeatedly by customers looking for traditional gold elegance at a practical size.
Design & Materials
The frame is built from hardwood and casting resin, finished in a warm gold tone with subtle tonal variation that gives it genuine antique depth rather than a flat, uniform colour. Each corner features a raised cartouche with scrolling acanthus-leaf detailing, while the inner edge carries a continuous beaded moulding that adds a refined border between frame and glass. The profile is gently swept — curving outward at the corners and tapering along each rail — creating visual interest without excessive bulk. At roughly 6 cm wide, the frame is substantial enough to anchor the mirror on a wall yet restrained enough to suit rooms that already carry ornamental detail. The glass is clear and unembellished, keeping the focus on the frame’s craftsmanship.
Size & Placement
At 117 cm tall and 91 cm wide, this is a mid-to-large wall mirror gold frame that fills a wall space confidently without overwhelming it. Hung in portrait, it sits beautifully above a fireplace, console table, or sideboard — in our experience, this proportion works particularly well over mantelpieces that measure around 120 cm across, leaving a balanced margin on either side. Flip it to landscape and it becomes a striking focal point above a sofa or bed headboard. The vintage antique gold mirror finish pairs naturally with dark woods, leather, and muted fabrics, making it a strong fit for traditional and period-inspired interiors. It also works as an effective contrast piece in more contemporary schemes where a single decorative gold mirror wall element adds depth and richness. Thanks to its flat bottom edge, this mirror can also lean securely against a wall on a mantelpiece shelf or deep console if you prefer not to drill.
Hanging & Installation
The mirror arrives with four D-loops pre-fitted to the back of the frame, positioned so you can hang it in either portrait or landscape orientation. Line your wall screws up with the centre of the corresponding D-loops and hang the mirror directly — do not use string, wire, or chain. At 12 kg, it is a manageable weight for one person, but we’d suggest a second pair of hands to hold the mirror steady while you mark and check your fixing positions. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included, so choose fixings appropriate to your wall type — toggle or spring bolts for plasterboard, standard rawl plugs and screws for solid masonry.
For a clean, flush-wall finish, we recommend pairing this mirror with our heavy-duty mirror fittings kit — a hook-and-loop back-plate system designed to sit flat against solid frames.
